M-Pesa money transfer
 

Anyone here able to give me a (very) simple practical explanation of how M-Pesa money transfer works.

I know it's a method of transferring money by text message (there may be an Android app if you've got a better phone than I have) but how? Where do you have to put your money (presumably not in the card slot like a supermarket self service checkout :rofl:) to be able to transfer it. How do you convert it back to cash?

Thanks Dave. The article explained the basics - corner shops acting as a kind of banking agent etc.

I've read that it's now expanded from east Africa and versions of it are now set up in S.A, India etc as well as (more recently) eastern Europe - Albania and Romania for example

Anyone used it ?
