Off road training - Staffordshire, UK
I have been on a training day with Trials Day (www.trialsday.com) near Leek in Staffordshire and it was very instructive as well as good fun. However, I now ache pretty much all over - this is a reflection on myself rather than the course.
I will be going again to make sure that the lessons are learnt and they become engrained. I haven’t been out on my road bike yet but there were low speed lessons that translate directly and which will improve my manoeuvring immensely. I throughly enjoyed and can fully recommend both them and training. 10/10 |
I've been there too.
Proper day out !! He's an excellent teacher and the course if fabulous. Well recommended. |
The principles of low speed when turning on steep slopes, how to lock the front wheel, how to use your weight to not lock it on turns, steering with your feet, etc etc etc, all transfer to full size bikes off road.
Trials is the best basis for off-road riding in the same way Moto Gymkhana is the best basis for road riding - good on you for getting out and getting the training, it'll save your bacon out on the trail! |
Any off road bike will make you a better road biker , it makes you look at the terrain and helps you understand more about the lines you take on the road
Not quite sure about "trials" bike as it is more about low speed and balance , I would say a "duel sport " would give you more knowledge as some of the time you are on the road before you go off road !:scooter::scooter::scooter: |
