Overseas BMW riders in Australia last year?

Riding along the Gibb River Road, Northern Territory in August 2000 I came across the stragglers from a BMW rally. The riders I spoke with said this event is held every 2 years (usually in fairly remote areas) and attracts many overseas riders.
Does anyone have any more details - such as which club organises the event and when/where the next one will be held?

Some answers from the Oz_Adventure_Riders list:

"Sounds like the Off-Centre run.
Like to read about last years run? Try http://www.ozemail.com.au/~rjmilton
Regards Rob Milton"

"The Off centre runs & history are best viewed at http://www.users.bigpond.com/rto/ozhome.htm

I have a list of rallies at http://www.geocities.com/fwarner_au/Rallies.htm
This should be good for visitors rough planning for an OZ trip. Note that our "rallies" are meetings - not competition events, some OS people get this idea. Regards Frank Warner"

"I went on that rally. I've been to all of them from 1994. My reports on the last two of the trips is at: http://travels.dtdns.net/
Jill Robinson"

Great response from the Aussies as usual!

Many thanks for the response. (I recognise Manfred and Reggie in Jill's story of the 2000 Off Centre rally as the couple on the R80 with broken shock absorber that I met at Mt Barnett). Thanks also for the list of events - so many new places to ride to!

See you on the trail.
