Riding Bhutan on foreign owned motorcycle

Hi All,

apologies if this topic has already been addressed (could not find the info I was looking for), but I am trying to determine whether at all a foreigner is allowed to ride own motorcycle into and tour Bhutan.
I found one comment on another forum that mentions that foreigners are not allowed to drive (ride as well I suppose) by themselves, in Bhutan. All land travel must be booked through, and accompanied by, a tour operator.

Any info on the regulations, costs etc, would be much appreciated.

Thank you

unfortunately it is like this.you don't even get a visa without booking through a travel agency.
even worse after opening up after the pandemic they raised sustainability fee from 65$ to 200$ DAILY.
i was riding bhutan on a himalyan march/april for a month on old conditions(booked before covid) and it is not cheap,BUT you might spend more money in some luxury resorts.
once there food and drink is really cheap.and everything is included food 3x/day,accomodation,petrol.
it is an experience worth the money i found.
for more information pm

Hi Manzini,
many thanks for the reply and information - wow that is pretty steep, especially for me coming from Malaysia; I think even China is cheaper.
I am also making enquiries with tour/travel companies, lets see what they are quoting.

Will pm if need more details/insights. Thank again
