Roadkill Cookout - Elderflower Champagne
Last year I had some of Danny's Elderflower Champagne (as well as a pigeon). I tried to make my own from a googled Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall recipe, but it failed miserably. Danny, not sure what your username is on here but could you post the recipe for me/all to attempt!?
Cheers, Chris |
Anyone!? :)

I don't know Danny (Taylor)'s HUBB name but Phil, who helps him with the cookout certainly will. Regards, Mick |

Elderflower Champagne
I've used HFW's recipe before and it's worked fine. It all depends on whether or not the natural yeast on the flowers is present. If you've had heavy rain etc it can sometimes wash the natural yeast off and you may have to add brewers yeast to compensate.
The recipe I tried last year was just elderflowers, sugar, lemon juice, water and a table spoon of white wine vinegar. Left for about 48 hours and then strained into screw cap wine bottles. Leave it for at least 6 weeks (longer is better). If it has worked you should have sediment in the bottom of the bottle. |
Thanks people. I've messaged Phil but otherwise I'll just give HFW a second shot!
