Just do not try to fly with your pet into the UK, as by planes, pets must arrive with an "approved carrier" :
See Heathrow Pet travel guide: Pet Travel - Heathrow Airport Guide Normal passengers flight will not take them in. Believe me, we tried! It has to be cargo and as I said they charge horrendous fees :eek3: for the pleasure. This is not the case for the rest of Europe. Any other country: cheap and easy. |
Check out those ride reports of others bikers travelling around the world with dogs:

We met quite a few in South America driving a round in Mobile homes and they had no problem at all. Last year on our way to Mongolia (I think it was in Uzbekistan!) we met a group Germans/Austrians on about 12 Mobile homes (it was an organised tour). They were going to China. One of them had a pet. Not sure it was a cat or dog as I saw it from far. Cheers. |
Game on....I've been making the plans, have talked to others who have traveled and are traveling with dogs.
My sidecar rig is being built, should be complete around end of May. I'll go up to Chico, CA to pick it up from Chris at Boxer Metal. We leave around mid June to start the first leg of our journey, which will be in USA to make sure the dog (Doc Holliday) and the sidecar rig are good for long distance travel. First year, we'll hit Alaska, across Canada, 4 corners of USA, then back to San Diego for a few weeks to prep for South America. I plan on going for at least 5 years if all goes well (which it will !! ). |

So far, they never left Europe with the dogs, which makes it easy for them. And they don´t travell much, which means, not to many border crossings per year. Regards Panny |
On the central- and south american leg of our around the world trip we met a German couple on several occasions over the periode of a year. They picked up a stray dog in Central America. Border crossings where rather easy. But I can´t give you details, if the dog crossed the borders legally or not.
But what I remember is, that they were not allowed to enter most national parks in Central and South America, which was a big disadvantage for them. Regards Panny |
