I believe [amongst other things] in reincarnation ,methinks you were less well behaved in a previous life . Enjoy plodding along on your Enfield ,I wish I could find one here in Canada ,damn nice bikes -if you like that sort of thing . |
I agree with the previous comments about slow drivers being a menace. 'failure to make progress' is a driving test fail for a good reason.
let me give you an example, me and another car working our way down a queue of traffic. pull out, overtake, back in, back out, you know the deal. At the front is some old boy with his head tilted to one side doing 35 in a 60, presumably his name was Herbert! he probably regarded himself as a shining example of safety, with his 2 mile traffic jam behind him. Well, other car pulls out to overtake, me takes sharp intake of breath, other car just misses vehicle coming around bend in opposite direction. who is to blame? clearly other car is for overtaking in a dangerous manner, but also that idiot at the front takes a share of the blame for driving in a way that has caused such a degree of frustration in other road users that they commit a dangerous manouver. If thats you then you share some of the blame for that. Thats why sitting in the outside lane of the motorway at 70mph will get you a ticket, even though technically no one should be overtaking you. If you are incapable of driving at the speed limit when it is safe to do so, you shouldn't be driving. and herbert, you are the sort of pompous self righteous do gooder that has such a lack of self awarenes that the expression 'never had an accident, seen hundreds' springs immediately to mind!' You have such a poor grip on reality it would be difficult to know where to start to explain it to you. |
The word perambular makes no sense here. The rest is merely pompous. I never break the law and neither should you. You sneer at my bike in a childish way. Now you stop it, do you hear? Uphold the law...or you will come back as a tapeworm...

However I did not sneer at your choice of mount ,I love Royal Enfields .I have owned one in the past and wish to do so again . To be reincarnated as a tapeworm would be no bad thing ,as long as I was able to choose my victim . |

[QUOTE=Herbert Meek][INDENT]
Do you mean you would like to live up someones bum?:innocent: How distasteful. Or is there a double meaning here? And "perambulatory" is still wrong, as this word refers to walking; perambulatory means "walking around" where "per" is the prefix for around. Think of the word "perimeter". "Ambulare" is of course the Latin infinitive for "to walk". An ambulance originally referred to a cart pushed or pulled by people on foot. Like your bike probably. Herbert you seem quite an expert on the English language - could you have been perhaps an English Lit or Lang teacher in a previous existence ? Perambulatory can also refer to a baby carriage [ ie perambulator ] and hence the speed at which the contraption travels [ ie slow] . Perambulate does indeed mean to walk but it can also mean to travel or inspect . I suspect that anyone with a couple or so operational grey cells could understand and make the connection . Tapeworms [Taenia saginata - for instance ] live in the intestine and not the "bum" ,by which I presume you mean anus .They can also form cysts in various parts of the body to the detriment of the host , I believe the brain is often favoured . |

So Herbie, if you saw me speeding you'd report me to the nearest police station:scared:! In that case I've nothing to fear:sweatdrop:! At the pace you'd be travelling:scooter:, by the time you reached the cop shop I'd have had time to leave the country:rolleyes3:! Keep taking the tablets Herbie and perhaps the nice nurses will let you out of that nasty coat that does up at the back:thumbup1: |
Cor! Makes good reading when you get a "live" one!

And I do not mean anus. Even if you find your best ideas there. :taz:I have a sound background in Latin, as I was a Dominican monk for 20 years. But I was forced to leave after bashing the Bishop. So I recognised your Latin bluff immediately, even tho' you thought I was a plonker. Your definitions are still nonsense of course - eg, "Perambulate" ; you say - "to inspect". Fiddle faddle, when did you last perambulate your spark plugs? You may indeed have an IQ of room temperature, but please don't make it so obvious. But I wish you well on life's rocky road, where I am sure you stumble and fall very often. I will pray for you as you are a hopeless case. Good luck, as you do indeed have "cyst for brains". I will visit you soon in Canada and would like to meet your good wife. Please send contact details. |

And have you tried being buttoned up by nurses? Don't knock it till you try it. Dont be so rude. Or you'll get bad karma and fall off your bike. |

Just out of curiosity, how much time do you spend looking at your speedometer while driving or riding? If you are absolutely sure you have never, ever broken a speed limit then you are a danger to other road users as you are clearly not focussing on the more important aspects of being on the road. |
