What is a Jackson??
I am about halfway through reading Mondo Enduro. I have consulted my American/English dictionary to no avail. Would one of our British friends please explain to this yank what a Jackson is? I assume it is some kind of unsavory character. The Mondo boys refer to being Jacksoned, etc.
Remember, Winston Churchill once said "Our greatest difference is our common language." :smartass: |

Although Cornishdeity is correct with his interpretation of 'Jackson' I believe from what I remember from the book, that in the context it was used I believe it was thier slang for 'locals'.

Yes, not sure what apples and pears have to do with stairs either!
Think rhyming slang is just a step too far so our cousins, just like all those extra vowels. I would suggest that if they were 'Jacksoned' it meant bolloxed, in whatever context. (pissed, stoned, annoyed). |

well, not long ago I bumped into Austin - as one does - and asked him, what is a "Jackson".
Jackson apparently is ..." a local whose name is unknown.." that obviously follows the fact that the local's name remained unknown for various reasons eg. limited linguistic interoperability ie. don't speak english and / or too drunk / stoned / stupid to communicate with the mondo chaps and exchange pleasantries.. although Austin didn't say, explicitly I suspect a "jackson" is usually is a local whose attention to the mondo chaps has not been 100% welcome.. therefore the term "..been Jacksoned in the middle of the night.." |

A Jackson could be a US $20 bill - Andrew Jackson (dead president) being the picture on the bill.
