Africa Overland - 2020. Anybody looking for travel partner?
Hello!
I am keen travel photographer, experienced traveller and curious explorer, intend to cross Africa in 2020. Looking for reliable partner to share ideas, adventures and expenses. I am 53 years old female, driver but currently don't have car or bike. Here is my web: Travel photography Thank you! |
Boyfriend and I are planning South- North via east coast in 2020 on two bikes. Have you considered a prefered route?
|
Hi,
Yes - My plan is to start from Europe - Egypt - Cape Town to Morocco or Algeria. I am thinking about slow travel and kind of cultural adventure |
Safari my life’s ambition, not interested in culture though, just Nature & Driving. Twickenham & Abbeyleix, Ireland

Hi
We are a mid-fifties couple hoping to do a long bike trip, starting around January 2020 - one of our options is Europe to South Africa, Cape Town. We are looking at going down the west side - we have friends in The Gambia. Would also travel up the east either cutting across from Namibia or up from SA. Are you in a 4x4? If we go ahead with this plan I shall put up a thread so perhaps people could meet up or do a bit of travel together. bier FF |
Hello :)
I like the idea of 4x4W... and also beer&adventure, slow traveling. Here is a bit about my idea and purpose:https://www.explorersconnect.com/ins...rica-objective :rolleyes2: |
Hi
Very interesting :thumbup1: |
Currently east coast Africa early 2020 is top of my list, although I'm hoping that Saudi will start to issue tourist visas for overlanders by then so that I can skip Egypt and that expensive carnet.
I mostly prefer solo but wouldn't mind pairing up with another lady for some of the more dodgy sections or for when I just get tired of being alone. |
Starting Budapest to Bamaco in 2020 then continuing south from Freetown.
Hi
I'm Mike, a 55 Year old Canadian. Finally done with work, pensioned off. I have a fair amount of travel on bikes already. eg: most of North and South America. On 31 Jan 20 I'll be joining the Budapest to Bamako Race in the touring category. After the race ends in Freetown, Sierra Leone I'll slowly continue further South and points beyond. It would be nice to share the ride. After Freetown I won't have any sort of itinerary, just as the wind blows me. M. |
What do you mean by Cross Africa. Does that mean London to cape Town or east to west or what? Which countries do you intend?
|
Hi,
That mean Europe to Egypt - East African Countries - Cape Town and back through the West Africa. The Itinerary is flexible... |

Good morning
We are Andi n Ellen, I will be 53 next year and Ellen 51 so we are two young punks from New Zealand and Africa is defo on the list for 20 or the other option is Russia, Ukraine etc. We had considered a 4 x 4 but begin moto heads we are 99% going to buy a Ural gear up sidecar (two wheel drive option). We have no itinerary, we do travel slow (3 years and 2 weeks from Alaska to Argentina), we like a balance of culture, nature, riding and living. One to throw in the mix anyway so keep in touch if this works. Cheers Andi |
Africa east route 2020 on motorcycles - who comes with us?
Dear travellers,
we are 2 offroad and Africa experienced riders (60, very fit, uncomplicated and sympathetic) from Germany and starting from April 2020 we have lots of time to travel around the world. The plan is to do a tour to Tunesia and from there to Sicily starting in April and all the way up in Italy. August or September 2020 (obviously that time is better because of the weather and road conditons) the Africa east route from Kenya to Cape Town is second on the list. Offroad yes (as much as allowed) but no hard enduro. We like nature, good food and drinks, cultural sites and we want to ride without stress or fixed dates although with an approximate schedule. Bikes will probably be KTM 790 adventure and Yamaha Tenere 700. Camping is an option but not necessarily. I did a tour through Ethiopia in 2019 and I think it is better to have a bigger group for safety reasons. So - who would like to come with us? I could also think of a combination motorcycles and 4 WD. :welcome: So - basically we are 2 and look for others to share this and other rides all over the world. So far the idea is to continue in South America once we have arrived in Cape Town. But - no fixed schedule and ideas are welcome and appreciated Regards from Munich |
