Hi JC and Charlie,
Picked up the car yesterday evening. Testing it a bit this morning, before taking the route south. JC, I might still be here, or perhaps just left. Ride safe, and see you further down! Gee |

Still waiting for the second part of my online Senegal visa application... first part arrived 28th Jan and there's been a weekend, so all might be normal! JC - if you have any thoughts on your timing heading south let me know. Watch out for camels on road in these parts! Charlie |

Leaving very early 2moro though so if u are slowing down we should meet up soon for a beer. I've not seen Gee yet, hope to catch him as well. Cheers |
I may lose some time getting into Mauritania as I arrive at the border a bit late today and I may have a Senegal visa issue and I feel like a day on a beach.... so you might very well catch me up pronto!
Make sure yuou have plenty of the "fiche" printed out to hand over to the police checkpoints from Tan-Tan onwards... I've needed 16 already and I'm only in Dakhla. You probably have them already but I followed the instructions on this page (Morocco Overland ~ Documents Adding to camels as a hazard, I'd mention drifting sand, children on the blag and police checkpoints just as I overtake heavy trucks on solid white lines!! Have a good one... and bonne chance to Gee on his desert pistes! Charlie |
Hi Charlie,
I understand that you don't have to wait for the second mail (Senegal visa). See other thread on HUBB). Hope this helps. I'm in Tantan, now, taking it easy. Met JC on the road, when I was letting Thimba stretch her legs. Ride safe and have fun! Gee |
Gee... glad you made it to TanTan... it must must be good to be moving again!
I crossed into Mauritania today and you can definitely get yr Mauri visa at the border although you have to fight off the usual mob of 'helpers' and the minefield makes a change! Charlie |
Hi guys I am in great laayone, will get to dakhla 2moro.
Gee it was good bumping into u 2day, hope to see u around again. Charlie I think u do need a day on the beach so I can fatch up. Ive not been stoped once except for a warning due to speeding, lol. I have my Mauritania visa already so hope no prob on Wednesday |

I remain slightly concerned because I've only got one of the two Senegal visa application emails but I'll take my chances at Rosso tomorrow afternoon. BTW... the Mauritanian police love their fiche even more than the Moroccans. I used the same one as for West Sahara but swapped the Morocco entry number and dates for the Mauritian one. After a €5 beer in Nouadhibou, I'm ready for some better prices! Charlie |
JC... reached Zebrabar, St Louis, via Rosso, last night. If you can avoid Rosso, do! I got through in about three hours without visa and only one email from pre-registration but it was a tad stressful!
Will stay put - taking it easy - till Sunday... Casablanca to St Louis in seven days has left me a touch knackered. Not clever or necessary... but done! Hope you're covering the dry miles without too much grief! Only accessing internet once a day for short burst in afternoon... Charlie |
