will try let you know stuff as we go along. how are you guys travelling? karl. |
I am taking the same route as from middle of March 2014 together with an Argentinian friend. Riding on motorbikes.
But you are going to be way ahead of us if you are leaving mid Jan... I might be bugging you with some visa and other practical questions on the way ;-) Safe travels! Bart |
Hi Karl, I looks like there will be 2 of us leaving from Spain. We are leaving on the 27th of Jan and wont be in a rush either. I'm sure we will meet up along the way though so we must definitely stay in touch.

Elbarto i'm sure you guys will catch up with us along the way.
Looks like there are going to be a few bikes travelling so please keep in contact. Cheers |
wowser
I'm totally in the planning stages here, but I'm totally wanting to do a very similar trip. This time frame may be a little early for me, but you never know.
I'm going to see if I can get some things and my bike sorted out and you never know. I'd love to have company on this trip! What is everyone riding? I'm planning on doing it with my little WR250r : ) ciao Clay D |
Hi JC, out of interest what are you riding and what are you doing with your bikes when you get to SA? Just deciding on doing either India or part of Africa, I finish work mid-Jan and have to be back in UK late June, not sure if 5 months would be long enough for a full loop...
Cheers, Nick |
west africa to capetown
Hi to all,
My wife and I have just ridden from the UK to the Gambia on two Enfields and are now looking to travel to Capetown in a couple of months, our main concern is regarding the visas required and if it is possible to get them en-route. We would be covering Senegal - Mali - Burkina Faso -Benin - Nigeria -Cameroon -Gabon -Congo -DRC -Angola - Namibia - South Africa. Time is not an issue with us but it would seem pointless to go further if we can't get the visas. Any info on this would be great. Thanks in advance Den and Mandy |
i am in the middle of this route and have gotten visas as we go. We're currently on Accra awaiting our Angola visa, then we're hot to trot. The hardest one was Ghana, which we got in Dakar, as you can get a visa valid for 3 years from your home country.
|
many thanks for this info are there any visas that you can only get in certain countries such as the Angolan as we don't intend to go through Ghana. if you have the time it would be interesting to know where you got yours from, from what I understand Bamako is a place for quite a few.

Hi Odermate I am riding a Aprilia ETV Caponord and Adritay is on a XT660R.
I am staying in South Africa and adritay is shipping his bike back to UK. I think you could do a full loop in 6 months if you a good rider with good bike. Isaac Feliu PĂ©rez (Africa call) left Spain and did 71 countries, 41500km's all the way around Africa back to Spain in 77 days :) We are leaving on 27th of Jan in no rush. |
