Alaska Summer 2003
With the lousy snowpack in the NW, and the lack of good snowboarding, I'm starting to plan another trip to Alaska leaving from Portland, Oregon for 3 weeks late June-Mid July. I'm looking for anyone who wants some company, cold beers, and an ex paramedic on a KLR 650. I was snowed out in the Brooks Range in 2001, and I'm hoping this years summer weather will make for a great tour of Alaska. I'm into camping the whole way, and the endless expanse of dirt byways in B.C. and the Yukon. Please email me at link above

Hi,
I will be travelling the other way leaving Alaska in mid May and heading through Canada, Oregon etc ultimately on my way to Argentina so may see you going in the opposite direction. I will be riding a white XT225 - happy to stop for a beer and a chat. Lois London, UK (Alaska-Argentina 2003) |
Eric and or Lois,
We live out on the Olympic Peninsula of Washington State. If either or both of you find yourself out this way please let us know. You have a safe haven out here and a place to set out to tour the Olympic Penisuala. cheers ------------------ Life is good! |
Eric, I'm leaving for Alaska in June also to meet my friends that been on the road for two years. Not sure yet where the meet will take place but were heading to Prudhoe Bay. Leaving from Pa the 2nd week in June so maybe I can catch up to you some where. Also camping. I have a 1150R that

Hi, I am planning on doing the Canol Road run early to mid August. I will be leaving North Carolina early may, then up to NY, a few days in MN then west via any route. I have never been to Washington or Oregon and would like to explore a bit then head north. I will also be camping and riding a KLR. It would be fantastic to meet up, seems like we have similar plans.

I have been talking via email with a few of you about your travels. I live near Anchorage AK can provide info, resources, and local know how. If you have any troubles please dont hesitate to email or call. Depending on the time I may have a place to lay your head or cold beer to swap travel stories. Plenty of tools and knowledge of AK roads. Happy travels!!!

Hi Lois,
have you sorted out your bikefreight from the uk to usa/canada? bryan |
Hi There,
I am probably going with a company called Jardine Logistics who are based in the terminals at Gatwick and Heathrow. They have given me the cheapest quote so far to fly the bike to Anchorage (£450) and also seem to know what they're doing - ie. the very concept didn't completely faze them! I am getting a crate from a local bike dealer which I will adapt to one cubic metre and then take the wheels, forks and probably bars off the bike and squeeze it in. I'm delivering the crate to the airport which will save a few quid as well. If anyone wants the phone number of Jardine Logistics drop me a line. Cheers, Lois |
I'm also planning a mid/late June trip into AK. Would love to travel with people but I do have a rally to attend on July 7/11-7/12 (Last Frontier Rally). Got the Milepost and the Free Campground guides cause this one has got to be on the cheap! E-mail me, I'll be stopping in Montana to have some bearings installed in my tranny on the way but am really pretty flexible.

Hello all,
I will be in the region early July on my Transalp. Let's meet up. I want to motor up to Prudhoe Bay and see a bit of wilderness too. Simon (RTW 2000- ) |
YIPPEE!!!!!YAHOOO!!!!!YEEEHAWWW!!!!!
I've been serving sentence here in the dark, all alone, behind this stupid computer, in a big empty building, pulling 12hr shifts for 10 months and it's almost over. I gave my boss 2 weeks notice and I'm outta here. I'm going back up north. I'm taking my KLR as far as it will go. YEEEHEEE!!!!I'm also selling most everything I own, skipping out on half a months rent, trucking my stuff up to who knows where (someplace Northwest) and leaving it in storage. Then I'm going to ride ride ride, till my fillings fall out. "Oh but what about your career? what will you do when your money is gone? what about the economy? finding another job? how will you explain this in your next interview? bla bla bla" I sold a year of my life for $15/hour and now I'm going to buy some freedom. Anyone heading north to Alaska/Yukon is welcome to hang out. If my money holds out, I may try to reach Cape Horn too. YYYEEEHHAAAWWW!!!!!!
