Alaska to Argentina - Summer 2015

Hi,

I'm planning on shipping my bike to Alaska around July and take around 6 months to get to the south of Argentina.

I have the bike almost ready, time and some money, that's it. I don't have a fixed route nor schedule, just some idea of the places I want to visit. I know people that have done Alaska and the US and are sharing information with me, and for the southern bit I know some already. I'm from Argentina, so language will probably not be a problem.

I don't mind travelling by myself, but I also enjoying sharing experiences, so I'm opening the invitation in case there's someone else interested in doing something similar.

I've done a few 2-3 weeks trips before, in small and big groups, and I love being on the road with my bike, so this is for me just an excuse to ride as much as possible and get some experiences on the way.

If you want to meet on the way, please get in touch with me:

Hi Leo!

Here is the link I found it here, now i am thinking about second half of June to fly bike and myself to Toronto...

http://www.horizonsunlimited.com/hub...ler-deal-80707

and after few emails back and forward to Air Canada this is price breakdown..

paste: Here is a breakdown of the cost. Please keep in mind that when shipping out of LHR, they do charge a few additional fees.
LHR - approx bike weight 250kg
one way
Price 700.00
DG declaration 0.00 ( James cargo will issue this and charge you for the declaration seperately )
DG fee 65.00
screening 0.15 per kg. 37.50
802.50 Plus customs clearance fee in montreal ( 55.00cad )
Total is roughly 860.00cad plus the fees Air Canada Cargo LHR will charge you. I estimate the additional fees will run you about 100.00cad for LHR air canada cargo, and James cargo will charge you for your declarations seperately.
Hope this helps! You can keep this as a reference for price if you like. We can only gaurentee this price for 2015 as the promotion may not be offered next year.

Hi Nino!

Sorry, I had a busy week and it looks like as I'm very new to this forum I can't reply to PMs. Let me take a look at this, it looks interesting.

I'm based in London, and I ride a 1200GS. I know I guy who shipped his bike to Alaska many times, and he's sending me a lot of information about shipping, accommodation, etc. I don't have a fixed date yet, nor a time limit.

We are not far from each other, if you want we can meet for a coffee soon and exchange some information.

Cheers!
Leo

Hi Scott!

That sounds great. I heard it's very common to find fellow bikers on the way and even make some miles together. What route are you planning?

Cheers!

Hi Leo!
No problem amigo, all good...there is couple of treads on the regional forum under north america about riding canada and alaska..
i am flying to toronto on 14.06. and my bike will fly couple days earlier whit Air Canada as they have great deals for this summer for shipping motorcycles across.

650 pounds flat rate, vancouver, toronto, calgary...so you drop the bike at depot an that is it, here is one of the emails..

Hello Nino,

Just getting back to you on the motorbike qoute. For the summer we charge a flat rate of GBP 650.00 to ship motorbike. This include all charges ex London. To send the bike involves a few steps, so we ideally need it to be with us 1-2 days before its booked date. We commence a dagerous goods check while you are here to make sure everything is in order. The tank has to be 1/4 full of gas. Also we need an invoice/written declaration that states what the value of the bike is. Ir doesn't have to be crated. If you have anymore questions just let me know.

Regards

Andrea

Keen to meet if we are going to cross paths... :scooter:

Be careful in Quebec (if you plan to go there) they don't like motorcyclists...

Hi RNS,

What kind of trip are you planning? For how long? I guess I'll be crossing the Mexican border around Sept, but we can meet somewhere on the way.

I'm adding all you guys as contacts so we keep in touch during out trips
