Marcow,
I just did this the other day. I'm in Quetta right now. Plan two days to cross from Zahedan to Quetta. Day one is spent being handed off between police escorts (unavoidable) until the border. After you cross, it's a 300+ kilometer ride to Dalbandin. On the way there, about 100 miles after you cross the border, there is a big detour through the desert for about 3 miles. Stay on the lower path. I got stuck in the sand taking a wrong turn. The rest of the road is not too bad. In Dalbandin, there is a hotel called Al Aman. Cheap and good. 150 rupees. There is no power between 11:30 PM and 10 AM, so there is no fan during the night. Enjoy the heat. Day 2 is harder, with no detours but lots of sand on the road. Very slow going and tricky at times. Gas can be had along the border in Taftan but not along the way. In Zahedan, there is next to no gas, but you can buy it from the street vendors. 35 rupees/liter. Good luck. Let me know where you end up. I'm going up north as soon as possible, via Chitral to Gilgit. Email here is kevin@berettainc.com. Stay in Hotel Bloom Star when you get to Quetta, great place.
