Any One Guatemala Bound
I am in Oaxco Mexico and aiming for Guatemala in the next few days.Anyone heading that way¿
Ben. |
Ben, La Paz as of 1 Oct. Doing Cabo and back up, then over...looking to stay in Guatemala for a week for language lessons, likely in the capital. So say from the 10th to the 17th? Gosh, that seems late...
Probably not gonna work, eh? Cheers, Mitch |

IMO, Antigua Guatemala is a much better bet than Guate City for language learning. Far more laid back, many schools, everything in walking distance, and loads to do. I am in Panama City but will be in Quito at the end of the week, and then heading south. Our paths might well cross, I guess. if you want to meet up, let me know. Alastair |
I will second what Al just said. Also if you plan on going further south can i suggest the La Mesilla Crossing into Guatamala! its a breeze took me 20 in total for everything, (fumigating, visa, and the bike) and go for the Copan crossing to Honduras becasue the one from El Salvador is a bitch! takes all day
|
Indeed. For me, the El Salvador-Honduras took longer than every other CA border corssing combined. I´m quite pleased in one way as otherwise I would have had no stories to tell: everywhere else was pretty efficient.

thanks for the info re: language schools. I'll make Antigua my destination in Guatemala. Thanks all!
Ferrying to Tobolobompo on the 4th and making hard days (knock wood) after that (plus a stop in Guadalajara for sprockets and chain. Maybe in G for the 8th or 9th? Safe travels, everyone. Mitch |

Simon - maybe we'll bump into each other in Nic? Anybody in the area who knows how to fix a speedometer and the thing that counts the kilometers? I've got a loose connection - problably after the most untalented mechanics on the American continent changed my tires.... Bastards... ;-) Annette |

Steve,
I am enjoying myself, the ruins here are great. Buy more lotto tickets. Annette,San Juan del Sur,sounds like a good place to visit. Which route are you taking to Copan.I have not decided if I will head for Tegucigalpa,do not like cities,or go down through El Salvador to Hwy 1. I am leaving Copan tomorrow,so I will have to make a decision in the morning. Have you had the speedo problem fixed. Ben |
Ben:
My plan is to cross into Honduras at Las Manos and pass Tegucigalpa (though without going in). I've been told that the El Salvadore / Honduras border on the Panam is murder so I'm want to avoid it. Hope too see you on the road - I'm on a white GS Dakar. I'm heading off from Granada in an hour or so - which is really worth a visit!! The speedometer is working at the moment - it's goes on and off in strange patterns.... Now I've also got strange noises after going down in a HUGE puddle of mud on teh island Ometepe - had a passenger who got a nice mud bath as well. I'm not sure he had expected that.... but VERY funny! A |
