sorry, not joining but wondering about things
Hey guys,
I just saw your thread about crossing Iran-Pakistan border. Have you come from the east or going east? We're hatching a plan to go up Africa, round Jordan, Syria, ? Iran, Pakistan, India, and not sure if one can get past or through Myanmar, and then on to Thailand and possibly Singapore. Let me know if you get a chance. Thanks, Chiromal |
Hi Chiromal
We are going east! You will most likely not get into Myanmar at least we have a clear no on that matter. Our plan is to fly the bikes from Dhaka to Singapore and then countinue by land to Thailand. Freddy |

We're a Belgian couple going 2-up on a weestrom to Nepal. We're in the southeast of Turkey at the moment. We'll be crossing in Iran in about 10 to 15 days. We'll be 3O days in Iran. So crossing into Pakistan the end of November. When I see your itenary you'll be a bit earlier in Iran, so probably we'll miss you. But anyway, we'll keep in touch. |

We crossed the Iran Pakistan border beginning September 2009 and got to Danbaldin the first day where we stayed at a small hotel located just along the main highway, can't remember the name. Great place very friendly guy who sells beer which is quite nice after some time in Iran. The following day we went to Quetta.
The road between Taftan and Dalbandin is good without any problems and the road between Daldanbin and Quetta isn't that bad either. However we made the huge mistake of taking the north route over the mountains from Quetta to Multan. Initially the road is ok but then it turns into a motocross track for somewhere in the region of 150 km. We spent 17 hours from Quetta to Multan as the escorting police didn't allow us to put up our tents anywhere along the route. I don't know if the south route is any better but it can't be any worse than the route over the mountains which took us by total surprise as everybody had been talking about the bad road between Taftan and Quetta. The police finally let us go by ourselfs approx. 50 km south of Lahore. Also be prepared to have a police sitting on the back of the bike with an AK47 as we had that all the way from Taftan to Quetta. |

Turkey in November
Hi Ackman,
will take you some time to get to Turkey/ Iran from Germany. Don't under estimate the temperature in Anatolia and northern Iran. This time of the year, you will freeze your arse off, in all that snow and coldness. Despite all of this, happy trip and stay upright. Cheers Helgo Quote:
