Canada British Columbia / Yukon or NWT 2018

Hello,

I am looking for fellow travellers to accompany me on a trip from Southern British Columbia (East) to the Yukon or Northwest Territories in June or July 2018.

Currently, I'm thinking of a two to three week trip, no rush. I am on a 250, and it's my intent to finish it - and safely make it back home. :-)

I only have 5000km of experience and not gone beyond 500km in a day. Any feedback on the trip is welcome, and company for parts or all of the trip would be appreciated.

All the best, Barbara

If you're going to be heading north on 37 from Kitwanga, I'd continue west to Terrace and head north on 113, past Rosswood, through the Lava Bed Provincial Park, to New Aiyansh, turning back east to #37 coming out at Cranberry Junction, adds a little more time, but I found it more scenic.

Check my earlier post. I am going from Vancouver to Dawson City, then the Dempster to Inuvik followed by going to Tuktoyaktuk on the new highway being opened on the 15th of November. Plan on leaving early June. Check my post to see the route I am taking.
Total Trip should be about 8000k with less than 2000 of Gravel Road. I have driven most of this in a truck in the years past but am doing now on my GS with a friend as a test trip prior to doing all of South America and Central America after that. We might cross Paths. Both of us on BMW GS's.

I am also planning a trip to the Yukon/NWT next summer. I'll be heading out from Edmonton but I don't really have a date and will be trying my best to time it to be travelling when it is not raining. I'll be on a 250, taking it easy, lots of stops. Hope to do some hiking while I'm up there. Maybe our paths will cross. Best of luck on your travels.

crossing paths

Hello Riders

I am based out of Seattle and plan to head north to Anchorage/ where else up there. Thinking of leaving around late May to Juneish. I like the idea of the slow road and doing some hiking along the route.

You may be interested in my post "Kawasaki KLX250s As a D/S Tourer - My Report" in the "Which Bike" forum. It was based on a Yukon trip.

Happy trails.

Good luck

Hope you find some people along the way or prior departure. I am about like you in term of experience. I am planning to ride from Quebec City around the same time and go to St-John’s Newfoundland and then come back by the Trans Labrador Highway .
After a short stop in QUÉBEC , I would head out to Prudhoe Bay, Alaska , but don’t know all of my itinerary yet.
Riding a F650GS 2004, hope it follows me. ;)
Maybe I will meet you while you are driving down.Cheers bier

interesting

Hi Barbara,
I am dutch, living in Spain and my sun lives in Vancouver. I am tkinking about visiting him this summer and combine that with a motortrip. This sounds very nice. Here I ride a BMW F800GS and think about buying something similar in Vanad and sell it later (renting is very expensive). What time do you think to go and for how long? Do you take hotels or camping?
Regards,
Thijs
