Hi sinky, definitely interested in details. If you can pass on any info you've got on entry/exit points, rough dates, and any cost breakdowns that might give me an idea of what it'll cost for two people on one bike, that'd be great. Cheers.

Welcome to the world's best kept secret, Pakistan.
KKH is pretty but the adjacent valleys like Shamshal and Deosai are even prettier and shouldn't be missed. Keep us updated a a group of Pakistani bikers might join you. Cheers Omar |

Looks great Sinky! We're keen (2 people, 1 bike) as long as those costs can hold steady, which is dependant on numbers I guess. Same boat as you regarding dates though. We need to start locking down China. Anything I can do to help out with either China or Myanmar bookings?

Hi guys, sorry I haven't been on here for a while. I took on a couple of big projects and literally haven't had a day off in a month. I will read over everything tonight when I have a spare moment.

Hi Everyone
Sorry again for my absence from this thread, I have had to take on a bit extra work to be able to afford the trip... So currently we have 8 bikes and 9 people interested Kim Benmac Losjuajos Sinky57 Philip (Sinky57's mate) drewafrica k3nny taylor-chapman with Natalie (1 Bike) If every one could make sure I have your name and the name of any one traveling with you, if I could get everyones e-mail as well that would help. When I last spoke to NAVO we were just just 5 so I will chat to them again and see what they think about group size. If we still have 11 or more people interested next year when we have commit it might be easer to treat it as two groups. I asked NAVO about the process and payment and these are the steps. 1. Agree the number of riders, route and cost. We could do this any time but I suggest we don't do this till May to allow for dropouts or late comers 2. Booking and 50% of cost May 2015 3. 50% Balance August 2015 I will contact NAVO about group size If any one else in interested please post here and PM me with name and email. Thanks Kim |
I have heard back from NAVO regarding group size.
While they don't have a limit, they do recommend not going much larger than 4 bikes due to the time required sorting out registration and licensing of the bikes. However they have said they would be willing to do a large group. One consideration is that it doesn't get any cheaper after 4 bikes, by that point the majority of the cost is licensing and registration, the guide cost in nominal. Personally I think traveling in smaller groups is preferable as it is easer to keep together and any brake downs or flats don't effect so many people. I am going to arrange a trip entering China on the 3rd of September with NAVO, anyone is welcome to join this group. However if any of you would rather enter China in August or later September then maybe we could look as a second group. If people could let me know there preference for late August / early September / mid September we can get an idea of numbers. Please also note that the costs we have been given are for 2014, the costs for 2015 will likely change a bit. Anyone traveling two up the cost of a second rider is about £230, a passenger is about £110. If you are riding two up please let me know if the second person is a second rider or just a passenger. It might also be worth pointing out that the cost is for the Paperwork (Driving Licence, Vehicle Regestration), Guid and their vehicle. We have to pay for hotels (our choice) & food for our selves, the guid and driver. As well and our own fuel and tolls. |
