Aparentley The borders are not open at the weekends which is why they suggested the 3rd of September (Enter china on the Thursday, registration on the Friday and leave on a Monday) I guess you could also enter on a Monday, Register on the Tuesday and leave on the Friday, though any delays would mean being stuck in for the weekend. I am not to bothered by the date, happy to run it a week earlier if suits people better. |
China September
Hi Everybody as far as my plans go the 3rd Sept date suits me fine and I believe the large group is not that much of an issue other than at the administration points.(could work in out better as too many people to mess around)
On the road as long as the groups are separated by 10 minutes and there is a breakdown protocol set(only those with mechanical ability, tools ,tow rope stop to help) there should not be too much of a problem. The distances are not large and I am sure we will have enough support to sort any problems. Just a few thoughts, looking forward to meeting all. Regards Stephen |
China
Hi Kim it would really upset my plans if date was brought forward

As you say if it ends up being one big group that is certainly not a big issue, just needs a bit more discipline. Sinky57 I think we are all agreed that there will be a group on the 3rd of September. |
Going a little bit of track here, but I'd be interested to know what peoples plan of attack is with the Pakistan visa? Especially the UK guys. From what I've read it's best not to mention the bike.
I just got a LOI off Lost Horizons, cost $75 and really quick response, other places I emailed wouldn't provide one unless I booked a tour. I'm going to head to the Gerrys Bradford with this and the form in hand around middle of March (last chance before leaving) and try and get a 'good for date up to' of 6 months, which will mean I can enter the country until mid September, then stay as long as the visa is issued for 30 or 60 days. At least that's the plan, if I understand it correctly. |
Exactly the same plan here.

Pakistan visa
Hi
lost Horizons were quick for me too and keen to help. my visa people Scotts in London are saying 3 months only for Pakistan with lots of backup paperwork and valid on date of issue from embassy. Spoke to Gerrry they say 6 so would be happy to hear how you get on with Gerrys as you are departing before me. Good luck cheers, Sinky |

I really do hope that I can get issued a 6mth valid visa from Pak HC here in Aus, or Ill be pushing shit uphill when on the road. I don't intend on mentioning motorbiking, but how is everyone approaching their itineraries? Just main 'safe' locations and dates, no mention of mode of transport? I'm guessing omit Gilgit, just list as a couple of days in Islamabad/Rawalpindi and Lahore? Do they require hotel bookings or flight confirmations?
I know Iran also requires an LOI, so Ill be going through an agent, but does Uzbekistan? |
Anyone going Nepal China Kyrgyzstan this year ?

Hello all, as we rearranged our travelplan, the 3. Sep is fine for us. We would love to be part of the group:
Petra & Frank (2 x DR650SE) Greetings from northern Germany :mchappy: |
Hi Everyone
After a bit of discussion between NAVO, my self and K3nny we have decided to stick together and go as one big group. Navo have experience with large groups and they reckon registration won't be too much hassle as they will be less thorough if there are so many of us. I think I have everyones e-mail address now so I will send everyone some information I have received from NAVO about visas for China. Very excited now!! |
