We have a quote from Chinese Agency. It is too expensive for us alone, but if you join us it will be an amazing trip

Anyone?

Trip to china

Interesting ride you have planned.
But if I may suggest. It is good up to Lanzhou.
But head south at this point to Labrang Monastery. (35.194041 102.505)
Check this out on the internet.
From Labrang head to Jiuzhaigou National Park, this S301 is a great road (33.259857 103.91844)
From Jiuzhaigou head south again to Qingcheng Mountain just west of Chengdu. (30.910499 103.557783)
Stay away from Large city ok, most Motorbikes are banned and too much traffic.

From Qingcheng Mountain head to Leshan Giant Buddha. (29.547104 103.77307)
From here head back to Ya'an to pick up the famous G318 ( one of the best roads in China).
Head west on the G318 to Lucheng (30.048088 101.96228)

Head west on the G318 to Gaocheng and head south on the S217 (29.991334 100.278863)
The S217 will take you over a 4700 M pass
Finish in a town called Shangri-La (27.828307 99.718423 )

From here because you are so close to Deqin head north on the G214
And just 20km further on you have Kawagabo Mountain, again check this out on the internet.
Best viewing location to see the mountain is at (28.441333 98.876191)
The road to Deqin has a pass at nearly 5000 M high.
Now because you need to backtrack, at Deqin take this road (28.443324 98.896729) cant find a road number but it very very nice road.
You end town is Lijiang??? check this place out on the internet a great old walled city. (26.87265 100.23474)

If you don't go to Deqin then from Shangri-La take the back road sorry no number again (27.831348 99.738436)
By way of Tiger Leaping Gorge .....http://https://en.wikipedia.org/w...ping_Gorge

From Lijiang head south to Dail (25.699131 100.16512) must visit the old walled city here and Dail has a great lake to ride around, check this town out on the internet again.

You having been heading south now for a few day in Schiuan and Yaunan provinces, which IMO are the best 2 in China.
When you see the location off Dail you are very close to Kunming which is a large city nothing to see and motorbikes are banned.

Now you need to start heading east towards Shanghai.?
But again here motorbikes are banned and this rule is very strictly enforced so be warned.
On the way east stop and have a look at town called Guilin (25.276795 110.29494) worth a look check it out on the internet again.
Looking at your map from SH you are going to Beijing?
Why the Great Wall?
Overpriced and most of the Wall is new LOL.
From your map, you are heading north to the China Russia border.
So head into Shandong Province to a town called Yantai and get the ferry over to Dalian and head to Dandong (40.130907 124.383638.)
Then from here look at a map and then ride all the border road between China and North Korea.Great great scenic road.
You get within 10 M of North Korea. lol
But very safe.

1/2 way up the border road you have Paektu Mountain or Mount Baekdu...http://https://en.wikipedia.org/w...u_Mountain
Must see..
Now heading north from this point you will be stop along some of the border roads by the Chinese Army.
You just head inland a bit to miss the Army checkpoints ok.
This is just a rough route and a can give you more places to visit along the way if you need.
The Chinese tour people will just want to get you from A to B the quickest way.
My view is if you are going to pay all this money to ride China then visit the best bits.
Good luck with your trip.
By the way, I live very near Yantai were you catch the ferry.

I would love to join. What kind of docs you need for China customs to get the bike thru the country.

Hi shmalick,

Just the regular documents, not even a Carnet. So, you need your passport, your national and international driver's licence (which you get from your national auto club), and your motorcycle registration document. Chinese agent will provide our temporary Chinese driver's licence and motorcycle import/export and registration. These should cost around 10000 - 12000 RMB per bike/driver. We split the rest in two. If we find a third bike/rider - each pays 1/3, and so on..

If you're interested let me know and I'll PM you all the details.

Mhhh...what about prices?

fahrer1 12 Mar 2018 23:58

Roughly 500 USD/day. 250 per bike if there are two bikes, 170 for three and so on. It is a big trip, 9000 kms in China, but 15000 is too much for me.
