Dakar 2009
Is anyone planning on going to watch the Dakar?
Does anyone have and information regarding where and when other than the rather vague route posted on the official website? I'll be arriving in Santiago at the end of November, hope to get to the Horizons meeting, then take in (hopefully) a few days of the Dakar before heading south. Any info would be great. Hey other Adam, I'm going for sure they start in Argentina I believe around the 1st of Jan and finish in Valapariso Chile on the 10th (could be wrong, researched it ages ago). I am buying a bike on the 11th or 12th of December, might try to be in Argentina by the 1st of Jan to party up for NYE then watch the Dakar :thumbup1: Adam |
Dakar 2009
Hey other Adam...
Let me know when you're mobile and we'll take it from there. Adam |
Adam's, I received a note from the bmw offroad school, in conjunction with globebusters, that they're planning a trip to follow the dakar and watch it for 09.
Strongly suggest you get in contact with Si Pavey, and or take a trip to south wales to see them. As for exact routes, sorry pals but the whole point about the dakar is not being able to prepare for the route..and its only officially released maybe one or two days before departure. |
Any info on the Dakar than anyone can come up with would be helpful here. My grand plan is to be in Santigo m/l Jan. 1st then head east to try to intersect with the Dakar. Would hate to have them slide past me with out knowing. Any one know if they will stop in the citys marked on their map or if there will be a way to get a copy of the route once they are started at the other end. Also if they are planning stops in cities marked on there map I would expect that many, if not all the hotels will be booked. Camping? I have long sence given up on detailed planning, other than I will head that way m/l end of December and come back sometime, but a little info would help.

Contacting Si Pavey is a good idea. He's a top bloke and was a great help to me planning this trip - my bike started life as an Off-Road school bike. Visiting him isn't an option as I'm in Malaysia and will be shipping to Chile from Singapore at the end of the month.
I appreciate the need for the route to be secret but I would have thought the organisers would make the public aware of various viewing opportunities? |
