Eastern India via Myanmar

Some time in late spring 2014 if weather allows.

I hear the tracks can be rough in that part of India so solo travel might be difficult, hence looking for daring folks.

As far as I understand, I don't think it's possible to ride from India to Myanmar or vice versa. What information leads you to believe this is permissible? If this is indeed true, it would be helpful for me to know as I plan to make it to India from Europe on my KTM 990 Adventure by December.

To enter Mianmar from India is not well known or documented. But there are some travellers who did it that way.

Most of the information of selfdriving people you will find, is about entering Myanmar from thailand:

Here is a summary about the actual informations with many links:

4x4tripping: Burma / Myanmar: die Grenzen zu Thailand öffnen sich weiter

There is a too a backlink to the Hubb, where people try to organize an Konvoi for crossing Myanmar to Thailand at 2014...

I might be interested. I want to do Myanmar. I'm still not sure if it is possible with the motorcycle. If its not, I'll be peddling. :(

I am still waiting for answers from the tourism bureau in Myanmar. They say it is possible, they have provided information on which crossings are open/best for both Thailand and India. The bad news is that they require an escort. I have asked for the price but have yet to receive an answer.

That's as far as I got with them when I asked about crossing from Thailand to India.

They replied that it was possible with an official escort, but have not responded to any further emails.

Hi,

I'm intending to enter Myanmar from Thailand mid April of next year (Most likely at Mae Sot) and leave into India (Hopefully at Tamu / Moreh)

Sofar I haven't received any answers back from the Tourism Ministry - aside from that it is possible with "Special Permission"; so I'm currently talking to Tour Agents in Myanmar who claim they can obtain the necessary permissions if I book through them etc.

I'm waiting for them to respond now with an idea on price, but would definitely be keen to team up with anyone heading the same way at roughly the same time to save on costs.

Cheers,

Tim

Myanmar

Hi Guys
Be ready for a shock in regards to Myanmar pricing
1 car up to 10000USD for 14 days
5 cars crossing only up to 1500 USD per car (5 cars min) this is a 3 days trip (race)
The best deal is with Joern but not sure if his trip is already full at 2000Euro per car, unfortunately his trip leaves Febr 1 from Tahiland or Febr 15 or about from India border to Thailand check on this forum

Cheers from India (Christmas at Agonda Beach)
Fearless

PS some people get very rich in Myanmar!?!?!?!

Crossing myanmar 2014

Hello! we are planning to cross Myanmar between February and March, we have a safe contact and thanks to him one group is crossing now (we are waiting for the report from our friend in the group) and another will cross early February. The cost with this guy can be around 1000 dollars including food and hotels (sleeping half night in the vehicles) and all the permissions with escort.
Prices are per vehicle for 5/6 days it can decrease depending on the number of participants. Anyone interested?
