Europe tour in 2012??
OK so first things first.............Happy New Year to all on HU. Lets hope its a safe and fun year on the roads.
Now for my own 2012 ambition. I'm 36 now, no ties and defo not getting any younger.....who is. So i've decided not to waste the time time i have now. If my application for leave of absence from work gets passed then begining mid summer (hopefully) i want to do a tour of Europe, circa 8 weeks, maybe little more. This is intended to be the first of a number of trips I'd like to do around the world over 12 months. I may not do everything on the bike but i'm starting out that way. Plan is still in its infancy, route not decided yet but am leaning towards a more easterly european run to start with......saving western europe for the 2 weeks summer hols in future years. I'm putting it out there to anyone who might be interested in signing up for all or even part of the journey. I'd love to have some good company along the way but am quite happy to go solo if i have to. Maybe somebody has ideas of their own we could combine, or even if you just have experience or advice you could pass on. Hoping this will be the experience of a lifetime. Whos up for it?? Thanks for looking http://www.irishbikerforum.com/forum...t/thumbsup.gif Tom |
I'll keep my eye on this, and see how it pan's out.

Hi Tom and welocome,
I'm looking to see a bit of eastern europe but not while late August early September, Hope your plans work out :thumbup1: Cheers Dave, |
Happy New Year Gents !
Firstly, Dave 08, I trust you got my message from re:Trip to Minsk. Sorry for the delay but the trip is still " very much on". I've included contact details so give me a call and we'll start to get things moving. Thanks You. In addition to this - same call to any of the other chaps serious about doing the UK/ Eastern Europe / Minsk 'beano' circa. August 2011 - now's the time to commit. Cheers Boycey |
Sorry Gents, I spotted the mistake in my last reply:
It should obviously refer to the forthcoming 'Eastern Europe / Minsk 'beano" as 2012.....not 2011. cheers Boycey |
Hi Tom/lads,
I am planning leaving the first week of April 2012 from UK down France/Spain (joining a 2 week organised tour around Morocco), then on 22 April heading from Southern Spain (Tarifa) to Italy, over to Greece and then home via Macedonia/Bulgaria/Romania/Hungary etc arriving hopefully to catch in the Isle of Man at the end of May 2012 for TT Week :) Not sure about MKD/BUL/ROM/HUNG stretch - I have posted in another thread on here to ask about travelling through these countries on my own. Thats the plan! Riding a ZX9, follow the road, dont plan too much and take a cold beer if it's going. Cheers lads, Zixxer |
I'm Interested in Euro trip
:taz:Hiya Guys and Girls I'm would be interested in trip across the channel. Looking at 2-4 weeks. The thing is I new to motorbiking, well very new. Infact I have only booked my DAS test so far :smartass:(In March):mchappy:.
If all goes well i'll be doing a few smaller trips around the UK first, to get to grips with things. Then looking at longer trip across the channel. Hopefully late summer. I will be traveling light and cheap, more than likely camping and not always in a campsite  if you know my meaning. I'm thing beer , bonny and stars! maybe a dream, may not even pass my test, but we will see. |
Keen for Euro trip 2012!
Tazman
Sounds like I'm in the same boat as you, got my theory and DAS course booked in the next couple of weeks. What bikes are you looking at? I'm on a budget aswell and have been leaning towards a Kawasaki KLE500. I'm thinking of doing a trip across the channel at the end of August until end of September sleeping under the stars cheap and cheerful! Sounds like a plan to get some smaller trips in around the UK late spring/summer to get used to overland touring |
Tazzman and Stent,
riding in Europe is easier than riding in the UK. Much less traffic for the most part. My tips for you. Always fuel up during daylight hours in France where there is an attendant. Do not get low on fuel and leave it till the attendants have knocked off for the day. The reason...Auto petrol stations that take credit cards in France have a habit of not accepting credit cards from the UK. In the past I have had Visa, Mastercard and American express declined. We drive on the other side of the road. Tie a piece of bright ribbon or tape to the left hand mirror stalk. This reminds you which side of the bike needs to be along the centre line. If you don`t you WILL forget. Don`t ride too far. Getting off the bikes is what the trip is all about. Not staying on it all day. Talk to people. Meeting people is the most important part. Enjoy it and don`t plan too much. http://i176.photobucket.com/albums/w...k/P1010622.jpg France, Italy, Switzerland. All wonderful for bikes. Steve |
