My name is Michelle Eisele and I live in Victoria BC. The blog is somewhat disorganized and not all about motorcycle travel. It includes a lot of bicycle travel and a bit of car travel with my girlfriend. But most of my travels are solo and have been for the last 25 years.

Unfortunately no blog site as yet but off to travel africa late 2010............travelled 'solo' many times before but nothing on bike :thumbup1:

Try and get to a few meets, ask as many questions as you want, find out if anyone lives near to you for perhaps a meet-up and chat, and when you are ready to do a trip ask on the forums if anyone fancies joining you, all the best and enjoy!

I met a Japanese woman in Ushuaia, then later again on Ruta 40. She's on her second RTW trip, having missed a few sights on the first time around! This one included Mongolia, Russia, the Stans, and the east coast of Africa....so far. I'll not give her name, since I've not asked, but she's one of my favorite people met on the road to date.

I get the impression that there are dozens more, mostly unknown because they aren't sponsored, don't blog, or in other ways pass beneath our collective radar. Seems to me this is a good thing; the world remains full of surprises.

Sorry, you're missing my point. I'm not giving her name. She can chime in if she pleases.

The whole concept of trolling on the internet for second and thirdhand lists of women who travel alone strikes me as more than a bit weird. Maybe I'm too sensitive....but are you planning to check with the actual women involved to find out whether they mind being used in this way to fill your book? Does this make anyone else uncomfortable?

It does when you think that other women would like to get in contact with somebody of the same gender which has actually travelled the world on a bike.
It does also prove that ride the world on a bike isn't purely a male experience and these women have proved it quiet clearly.

As men we might not feel it, but women often contact me in private to make the point where "it's easy for us guys to ride the world, but is not as easy for women (for safety reasons...)". Well I guess testimonial like the one i listed above can show guys and girls that everything is possible and that gender mustn't be a limit.

But I respect your sensitivity, if this make you feel more confortable.

I should have thought of that. And now that you have pointed it out, yes it does make me a little uncomfortable.

Gionata, Mark's point is we dont know who you are ... even if we did, we cant be sure of your intentions. As Mark points out, what this thread has done is to have collated the names of a lot of relatively vulnerable solo travelling women onto the internet in one place.

Thanks, Colebach. Sometimes I wonder whether (or to what extent) I'm just out of touch with the workings of the world.

Seems to me there is a big difference between someone who contacts an author or web forum and asks to be publicized and someone whose name and/or contact info is gathered by secondhand reports, then published.
