A couple of weeks (14 days) would probably be a nice allocation of time for that proposed tour - but a couple of weeks (10 days) might leave you with a sore butt. :)
I've done that exact tour in the past, starting and ending in Toronto, Canada. It is delightful if you stay off the expressways and interstates - it would be horribly boring if you take the multi-lane highways.
Be aware that there is only one route around the top of the lakes in Canada, and we are just getting into absolute peak season (July 1 to September 7) for that region, because that corresponds to the school holidays in Canada. Thus, you are going to have to be quite alert about planning hotel, motel, or campsite reservations... just about everywhere will be full every night. Don't expect to be able to start looking for a bed or a campsite at 5 in the evening, they will all be taken and you will wind up with (literally) the dregs of the marketplace, if you can find anything at all.
Awesome route, though.
