India - Myanmar - Thailand crossing Feb 2017
 

Hi!
I am looking to start a group crossing Myanmar early 2017 from India. Can be a bit flexible with the dates. I'm one solo biker from Ireland/UK.

Hey mate, I'm currently stuck in UAE as part of my trip Europe east (for over 1 year now :)). Currently thinking about to head on finally but haven't layer out a detailed route yet. Myanmar is certainly be a consideration.
How would you get to India? Via Pakistan? And if so would you be interested in teaming up for that as well?
As I said, nothing serious yet, just rambling thoughts right now.

I'm heading through Pakistan, from Kyr. Still looking for people to join up with if anyone interested. Pakistan visa begins 21st Oct, I think.

Re: Thai import ban, at the moment I'm crossing my fingers. If not, then who the hell knows! Anyone got any more info on this?

Latest info about bringing a foreign bike into Thailand seem to be this - one of the main posters on Rideasia.net wrote a mail to a custom officer and got the reply that even he (the custom officer) didnt know what rules that was going to come oe how they were to be interpreted.

I'm not really that surprised. I'm sure it will be fine. Perhaps nothing, perhaps permit to pay for. I can't see them banning vehicles- making stricter maybe.

I plan to cross into Myanmar from India in early Jan 2017. I called the Myanmar embassy in Germany and they said that officially the border crossing in not open! However, there is a travel agency called the exoticmyanmartravels who said that they could process a permit. It needs like 3 weeks or so to get it done. They are mentioned in blogs by couple of people who already crossed the Moreh/Tamu border. Now I wait for the Myanmar visa and then I will process this permit.

The agency also mentioned about a new rule that one is expected to enter and exit from the same border crossing. It all seems a bit crazy.

Hi Bonnie, I have been planning this trip for a while, was hoping to embark at the end of this year, October perhaps.
I am usually a solo traveller, but I hear permit and local guide costs can be pretty high, so I'm looking to share costs.
I have a very tight leave schedule, so I'll have to spend all of my time in Burma and will not be crossing over into Thailand, in case you are planning to.

Do you think you can reschedule yours to early January next year (?), I'll have to return to the salt mines by the 25th.

Hi. There is a good chance I will be doing this route around that time. Hoping to do Greece to Iran and then Dubai from Oct 2016 to Christmas, then on to India early 2017.

Interested to learn more on the Thai situation. I have seen (from here) that Burmese tour operators have a service so I'll see what they say about entering.

I'm also planning to go Europe to India around a similar timing as others here. I'd be interested in doing this with others via any route possible!

I'm English, meaning a compulsory guide is going through Iran.

At the moment I am touring Europe and Northern Africa. My last fixed date is to leave the south of Spain on 5th November 2016.

HI Matt. I'll be heading through Greece up to Romania around that time, and was thinking of boat across the black sea to Georgia and heading that way to Iran if you're interested.
