India with 100cc - now?!
hey to everyone from dirty delhi
i found this fsite alredy last year, when i met an motorbiketraveler in laos who told me from this site, cause i was asking him so many questions about traveling by bike ;) i always wanted to do that but for an student it's just to expensive, but his days i'll start my first own real (haha) motorbike travel trough india on a 2nd hand kawasaki caliper 100cc, which i bought in delhi for about 300 dollars! :) guess that wil be fun...;) i just wanted to know if there's maybe somebody else travelling in india right now and maybe with the same kind of bike...? and if someone can recommend me a roadmap from india? i found the "eicher", think it's not that bad, but unfortunetely it's a hardcover... well, that's all for the first time.. cya andy |
Tour of India
Andy, Go for it. You will look back on this time as a real high point. I once took off on a small bike to far off points and still remember it many years later. Check out this site for info on India travel. Good luck!

Your 110cc Caliber is really a bit small, but if you are content to cruise at 70 kph, there's no reason why you cannot. Bit boring, though.
Suggest you have the machine checked out thoroughly - this bike has a poor resale value with good reason! Else you may find yourself rebuilding the engine after a couple of hundred km. Parts are very cheap, and easily available. Make that very very cheap. You could buy the book "India The Journey" from MRM publications. And be sure to have alternative routes in your mind - just because there is a line on the map does not mean it is going to be motorable, esp the smaller roads. The main roads are safer, too, law and order wise. |
