Iran, Syria, Turkey
Off to the Middle East early September. The plan is to do the Black Sea coast before dropping down to Iran for 2-3 weeks. Back into Turkey and then Syria before the return leg at the end of October. All provided I can get an Iranian visa (the rules have changed).
Anybody heading in that direction around the same time? Might be useful to link up for a beer or a friendly face every now and then::innocent::welcome: |
....pretty much same direction (except Iran) - but start will be not earlier than 25th of september. Plan to take a boat from Syria to Italy in late november.
I also would appreciate a stop for a coffee or beer when routes are crossing, or share when they match.:mchappy: |
anyone plans trip to istanbul welcome to have a cup of drink. coupleriders.net group location is just few steps away from blue mosque & ayasofia which are located just at the heart of the city. ask for angelshomehotel that our meeting points is for riders

Similar(ish) trip planned for me. Leaving France in early September to travel to Jordan via Balkans, Greece, Turkey, Syria, Lebanon. Objective is Petra. Reverse for the return trip to arrive back in France by end October.
Would be glad to keep in touch and have a beer if we cross paths. |
Leaving Ireland in September for Jordan through Balkans Turkey Syria. Definitive route and dates not exact yet. Would like to meet now and again if possible along the way. Joe

That looks good. I'll post a rough outline of my route and dates if and when I get my Iran visa. I will also keep in touch when I'm on the road.:thumbup1:

Hi Peter,
Here's the plan: departing Belgium on 12th september. Rather directly going to Bulgaria and from Turkey on slowing my pass. Doing some sightseeing in Eastern Turkey (Erzurum, Van lake region, Dogybayazit,...) into Georgia and back to Turkey to take the ferry in Trabzon to Sochi in Russia. Making a detour to Elista (if I still have the time) and then easy going back home via Ukraine & Poland. Having 5 weeks the time for this trip. I'll be riding on a no nonsence Kawasaki Z750 (so, no much off roading for me):mchappy: Always in for a drink and a chat somewhere on the road :smartass: cheers Peter |

Quote:
2/10 Germany 6/10 Istanbul 14/10 Aleppo 19/10 Jordan 24/10 Tartous to Venice. 28/10 Strasbourg 39/10 Home :stormy: 1/11 onward, don't wanna think about it. So, If you fancy a Turkish coffee or a Syria Tea en route, I'll be up for it. I'm camping / cheap hoteling. I originally wanted to do Egypt, go down to Hergada, across to Luxor and back up to Alex via the desert oasis route, but that would need time to do it properly and unfortunately, I managed to squeese 4 weeks only off work. Cheers. |

Taking the ferry today from North Shields to Ijmuiden and then in a straight line across Europe to Istanbul over the next 5 days.
Unfortunately can't get a carnet - it's a long story, see Carnets and the Natwest Bank in Trip Paperwork - so the journey over the next 6 weeks will now be to Turkey, hopefully Syria, ? Lebanon/Jordan. Wherever! I'll keep this updated with my progress.:scooter: |
Currently wandering around Romania. Will be here for a few days more then on to Bulgaria and Turkey.

Anyone there around this date, would be nice to meet up for a beer |
Istanbul on the 6th of October could work for me. Entering Czech Republic tomorrow I am on my way to Turkey. Will spend some days in Kroatia and Albania.
Nice day today in Germany :rain: |
I'm in Edirne - Turkey for the moment.
will go and have a look at the black sea tomorrow. from there on I'm not so sure yet. Or further into Turkey or back via Greece, Albania,... Let me think about it...:mchappy: |
Currently in southern Hungary planning to enter Serbia tomorrow. May hang around Belgrade for a day, but heading straight through Bulgaria after that towards Istanbul. 2 of us on 2 bikes taking it fairly easy. Will spend a little while in Turkey before heading onward to Iran. PM me if any of this sounds like youd be near us. I know what you mean about the weather in Germany :(
N |
Will enter Croatia tomorrow. Go for the Plitvice Lakes and a stop at the coast
south of Split before heading to Albania. I`ll reach Istanbul not earlier than 8th of October. All out there - enjoy your trip! |
Crazy, make sure you get fuel before entering the mountains in Bulgaria if heading for Turkish border. There is only 1 petrol station on the route which closes at 18.30. Bulgarian roads to border aren't great but when you clear the border .... when you see the Turkish roads --- BIG GRINS
At turkish border you will need to buy entry visa and green card insurance at the border post. You can't get clearance without them. Enjoy .... |

Hi Camel We're in Kavala, Greece now. I tried to contact you but due to not having enough posts I couldn't send a PM. I sent an SMS but apparently you are not using your Turkish SIM anymore. We're heading for Turkey tomorrow. Probably will spend a couple of days in Istanbul and after that off to Cappadocia it is. And then to Syria and Jordan. But we haven't made any fixed plans on the schedule. If anyone's on our route, feel free to contact. My phone number is +358505817695. Jami |
