Kenya / East Africa Aug 09!
 

Hi!

Was looking for advice and/or company! I'm climbing Mt Kenya at the end of Aug, so was planning on heading to Kenya for around a month beforehand and was really hoping to spend that time exploring the country by bike... Only its not really worth shipping a bike down for such a short time (especially not a rickety old 125 http://s3.amazonaws.com/advrider/nod.gif), so was wondering if anyone has any advice re. hiring bikes – cost/good places to rent/avoid. I have two key probs – 1: I’m an itinerant student with very very little money! And 2: I’m very new (but very enthusiastic) to biking and also have no friends who are keen/experienced bikers/travellers. Have done a lot of travelling, esp Asia & Mid East - hitchhiking etc, but no adventure biking and never been to East Africa.. SO if anyone was interested in joining me, they would be more than welcome!!

I would also be open to suggestions ... ie. Tanzania etc. My flight is to Nairobi, but that doesn't have to be limiting!

email Chris at Jungle Junction - he's got a place for overlanders - is a master mechanic on the motrcycle (BMW's) - he buys and sells the odd bike comes his way (if he can make money on them), so he could maybe be on the lookout for something that fits your requirements - and maybe help displose of it when you are done with it.
