Kyrgyzstan to Nepal in September 2016
Hi guys,
it's the first time in this forum, so I hope I am right here with my request. I am going to traveling this year all the way from Berlin to India with my car. One stage will be Kygyzstan (Tourgart-Pass) to Nepal going over the G219 Highway, passing the Kailash and Lhasa before heading to Nepal. All together around 20 days. I am going to travel together with a friend. For China it is necessary to hire a tour operator organizing the trip. The prices are ridiculous, but kind of okay if like three cars are in the group. So my question: How is up for traveling this part with its own car? Entering date should be the 26th of September. I am already in contact with some tour operators! Thanks a lot guys! Cheers from Berlin |
Check situation regarding Tibet-Nepal border: it closed after earthquake and reports about reopening didn't looked good last time I checked
|
Well thats on problem indeed. The boarder Zamdu - Kodari is still closed. But one Chinese tour operator told me, that officials will announce in March if another boarder point is going to open.
Alternatives: China - Laos or China - Pakistan |
Hi, I have the information, that the border to Nepal is closed until 2019.
Now I've changed my route and will ride the KKH to Pakistan, take a look to http://www.horizonsunlimited.com/hub...n-august-84583. Currently we are three travelers with motorcycles. Mybe it fits for you too? |
Hi Josef,
yeah I am afraid the border is still closed. I spend the whole day getting information about the KKH. And it sounds not that bad for me! I am now really thinking to use this part. Timing: Unfortunately I am kind of fixed with the date. To take friends and family with me I divided the tour into stages. So the earliest date I can cross the border to China would be the 26th of September. 5-7 Days in China are totally okay for me! Let me know if its maybe fitting for you. I have space for the guide in my car too. Cheers from Berlin, Mathias |

Hi Mathias !
We are a french couple with a 4x4 motorhome and we also would like to cross from Kirghizistan to Nepal ( or Laos ) and would like to share the cost of self driving Have you found other traverllers ? Where are you with your project ? GrĂ¼sse |
Hi! Well there are still 3 options which I follow:
For each route I have one person who might join. If the Nepal border is still gonna be closed I might have two for the Pakistan route. What is your travel plan? Cheers from Berlin, Mathias |
Hi Mathias,
I haven't thought yet about Kirgizistan China Pakistan... My plan was to cross from Kirgizistan to Nepal ( if it's possible ) or to Laos in october 2016 Cheers ! |
Hi, I am planning with the route to Nepal and Pakistan. I am not going to follow the Laos route and Pakistan is till now my favorite. When dou want to make a decission? There will be eventually a decission about Nepal border end of March... Do you contacted any tour operators?

Hey guys!
We are two bikers from London and we are planning to go the same route as you around mid-October 2016. We are interested in both routes to either Nepal (preferred) or Pakistan. I have emailed seven or eight agencies to give us a quote, we'll see what they say (they will know about the border crossings, I would think). We would gladly be a part of a larger group to save some money and meet new people on the road, but unfortunately we won't be able to get there before October (we are planning to leave London in mid-August). Hi Mathias !
What is the route through Pakistan ? How do you get the Visa for Pakistan ? I only received one quote to Nepal - from Voyage au Tibet, it's the same than Tibet Reisen - lots of french people travel with this tour operator Navo Tour has not answered yet. Cheers, Isabelle |
Kyrgystan-China-Pakistan (Karakoram) Oct/Nov 2016
Hi everyone bier
My boyfriend and I are planning to cross Kyrgystan-China-Pakistan via Karakoram in late Oct or early Nov 2016. I don't know if you'd be interested in teaming up to share the costs? We are already in touch with a tour operator through China (4 days) but have not made any fixed agreements yet. We are by Volkswagen van. Best regards, Mia |
