Leh Ladakh bike tour companion august 20 26 2018

Hey, I am a female rider planning to ride leh ladakh region on bike at 3rd week of august 2018. This will be my first time and I keep my distance to guided tours for now cause I think it can be cheaper when you arrange your ride yourself but as a female and first timer I dont wanna b alone on such a famous route. Anyone planning to go there around 3rd wk or maybe 4th week of august and willing to ride together pls let me know bier

The Mountain route you are planning is stunning and I'm not long back from taking a couple of people on an organised (?) trip there.

I've been back and forth that way for well over ten years now but whilst unable to travel with you, I am more than happy to pass on any knowledge that may be useful.

A couple of weeks back I met a Kiwi couple who had just cycled from Pakistan and were on the Northern side of the Rhotang pass having just cycled the Spiti valley. The lady was then planning on cycling solo to Leh.

Please feel free to email me and I will do my best to provide some answers if required.

Why not check with the best female rider in the area?

Look up Moksha Jetly, she rode that whole route in record time, is very nice and operates out of Manali which is also a very nice place. You'll need to spend a day or two there to acclimate unless you already live at 4000+ ft. Starting from there will put you just a bit before Rohtang and where you have access to print the permit, you have to have it printed so a local agent is a good help.

Have a great trip it will be very rewarding!

Thank you very much for your interest, but the plan is complicated right now. I moved my ladakh trip to 4th week of august and if the week before in india via backpacing goes well leaving me more than 7 days, I will fly to leh to ride around. Still have to acclimatize myself 2 days, I will have a very tight schedule. I will write to you when the plan gets smoother

Thanks!

I just read Moksha Jetly's story, and wow, she's an incredible woman and seems to be operating nice tours around india. I will definitwly check with her. I have a very limited time, will see if I can fit the program. I read somewhere if you rent your bike from leh (with leh plates), you dont need permits but if from manali, you have to. I'll check. Thank you for this suggestion!

Sounds great, if I didn't already have a plan for August I would definitely have been interested. I'm sure it will be amazing! Have fun

Sad to hear this, I would be glad if somebody joined me on this ride. Thanks!
