London to Cape Town Sept 2010 to Dec 2010
Hi,
We are two New Zealanders travelling from London to Cape Town via Africa East Coast from Sept 2010 to Dec 2010. We are riding a Yamaha Tenere and Honda Trasnalp. We are commited and definately leaving in Sept but could do with some company. Anyone interested in joining us, either for the whole trip or part of? |
Myself and a friend are also doing the same trip. Leaving in late September..
Drop me an email: tedmagnum(at)tedmagnum.com We have things to do on the way so won't commit to joining a group 100% but i'm sure we can hook up for part of the way. Especially as we get out of Europe. Do you know your route yet ?? Who knows, think flexible !!!!!!!!!!!!! |
We'll be crossing into Tunisia on the 28th Aug after 4 months in europe, I know we're a bit ahead of you, but we're in no hurry! Riding two DR650's, the aim is to reach Capetown sometime in the new year, maybe you'll catch us up at some point!
Safe Travels Matt & Kim |
Hi Matt & Kim,
We are planning on leaving early September so will hit Tunisia a couple of weeks behind you and catch you up somewhere on the East Coast I guess. We will definatley look you up closer to the time. Good luck with the trip. Cheers, Craig |
I'm hoping to fly into Nairobi in mid to Late Sep., wouldn't mind joining a group to organise a safari in Tanzania or the like, the more the cheaper. Ride safe.

Hello Guys,
If you need Any information about Tunisia,Libya I'll be more than happy to help Good luck |
Maja, our current plan would see us in Tanzania in late October but let as know if you get delayed as we could be interested. We are on a tight budget though so would have to be a cheap Safari!
Tiwdy, have you been through Libya recently? Are you able to recommend any good tour company's in Libya? I sent emails to about 6 company's and got replies from 2. The best/cheapest so far seems to be Fessano Tours. |
Hello craigxtz
Very willing to be flexible he did a brilliant tailor-made trip for me in Jan. It was only one week so I am going back in October to see a few more places. |
Hi all
My husband and I are doing our trip leaving 6th September 2010 ...In our 4x4 that is... Travelling Eastern Europe via Jordan to Egypt and down to SA on the East Coast. I'll keep an eye out for all of you, but you'll most probably see us coming from a mile off... We're gonna be pretty busy with birdwatching, which will get us to all the cool untravelled sections of the various countries. Then we're also doing our bit for charity. Absolutely can't wait anymore and I bet you a couple of bucks that I'm not alone in that boat... :thumbup1::thumbup1::thumbup1: Keep on rambling... |
Hi silvie,
We will be crossing from Italy to Tunisia around 20 September and then heading through Libya to Egypt. We will see where you are when we get to Eqypt. Your definitely not alone in the "can't wait to go" boat, work days are going so slow at the moment! |
Hi,
We are planning to travel France to SA this winter, leaving date very flexible. Would be great to travel with others as and when. We have just bought the bike (R80 GS) and have no Visa or paperwork research/knowledge yet. Any info would be helpfull. We are novice bikers but experienced travellers. Will be at Ripley if anyone is there for a meet and a beer to discuss the trip. Robin & Helen |
Hi Robin & Helen,
We are planning on getting the ferry from Venice to Eqypt on about 23 September, decided to skip Libya in order to avoid the hassles and cost. I think we will arrive Cape Town about Christmas time. We are travelling some of the way with 2 others who we met on this site, they are doing the same route but planning on taking a bit longer than us so we will part ways at some stage. Let us know if you think this might fit in with your plans. As far as paperwork and visas, we will be applying for our Carnets from the RAC soon but getting all visas on route. There is heaps of info on this site but let me know if you have any specific questions. Cheers, Craig |

Hi all,
Sounds cool on the ferry to Egypt, and the 23rd would suit us too! We are 2 up so will check out the prices and make a decision. We are a married couple 45 and 40 who started biking Aug last year so true born agains! Not really sure what our pace will be with the heavier 2 up bike and lack of experience in comparison to you guys but would be good to start out together and see how it pans out if you are up for it. We are open ended on arrival in SA, but will not be racing there. We will be looking for an economical trip and anticipate camping as much as we can. Let us know if we fit in with your plans. R&H |
Robin & Helen,
It would be great if you could join us on the ferry and then we will see how it works out from there. We will let you know when we have confirmed the ferry crossing date. This is mine and Cam's first overland motorbike trip, but like you have done plenty of non-motorbike travelling. Ted and Neil, who we are travelling with have both done overland trips before. All four of us are also looking for a budget trip so I think it will work out nicely. You can email me on cjmcjm@gmail.com, I'm a bit slack at checking the posts! Craig |
Late
Hi guys,
