Looking for one more person, cabin share ro-ro boat Buenos Aires to Europe, Jan/Feb.

Hi folks,

finally made my way down from Canada to Chile, now I have to do some planning about getting me and my bike back to Europe (Germany).

Beside the common shipping options (air freight / sea freigth etc.) I would really like to go with one of the Grimaldi freight boats. This trip would take approx. 30 days. Bike will be at the some boat.

Problem is: For me alone, I have to rent a solo cabin. This would be. € 2.200,- plus bike.

But in case I would share a (double) cabin, price will drop down to somewhere € 1.500,-/person plus bike.

(Remember: Trip takes roughly one month and all the food on board is included!)

Would like to leave BA around end of Jan. / beginning of Feb. 2012.

I'm looking for someone to join in.

Any takers please respond ASAP,

BTW: I am 48, m.

Pardon me, if this is a stupid question, but did you already cross the ocean with Grimaldi..? At least their website says: "Northbound passengers are only accepted if they had previously travelled southbound on a Grimaldi vessel."

Hi Pecha72,

I think, this is no stupid question at all.

But I was already in contact with an grimaldi agent to figure out the prices.

Never heard any remark about this topic.

Could be, but seems pretty unlikely to me. Wouldn't this mean, that some of the boats had to leave with partly filled cabins? Lots of the guys start in Buenos Aires heading north to the US/Canada and will not return to BA.

And this policy seems odd to all tourists of south american origin.

Nevertheless: Could be possible. I will check this out. Thx for the comment

Edit:

Yes, the Grimaldi webpage says, you can only book a trip north if you've booked one south previous.

So I asked my agent again: No problem. Might be because they want to sort out the places in case the boats are overbooked.

Friends of mine are definitevly on the Grimaldi vessel leaving BA on Jan, 26nd to England (along with their bike!). And this is their very first trip with Grimaldi. They will not take any Grimaldi boat back, but fly home to Canada.

So obviously there is no problem.

yes it seems north bound is verry possible but they will not let you get off in Dakar with your bike as 2 boneheads ridden off with out clearing customs . This gave gremaldi lots of problems and now those 2 w****** have spoilt it for the rest of us
