Love match
Don't be put off by the title...
Just curious how many in this forum met their mate on their travels/adventures? Reminded of the story of Daniel Rintz (somewhere else tomorrow) and wondered if this is an isolated incident or more commonplace than one might imagine? I've all but given up trying to find a mate here in the UK, and wondering if that's because she's already travelling some far away land and our paths will cross at the most unexpected moment...? Would love to read what others experiences have been. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
Surprisingly common! I can think of a few right off. You just never know where you'll connect - but an HU Meeting is a good start ;) - like-minded folk and all you know :)
Good luck! |

I met my beautiful wife to be 3 years ago in Mexico. I was on my f800gs and she was hitch hiking. I was just giving her a ride from one hostel to the next, nothing else. I was not looking for a girl or a relationship or anything. After that hostel we moved together to the next one and the next one. Next thing we know its been three weeks traveling together. We ended up so close so fast it was amazing. One thing lead to another and we're now back in Colombia with our beautiful son. It's a truly amazing feeling finding someone you actually like being with all the time! ( that's not my bike haha)
I recommend going out there not looking for anything. Just being 100% yourself and you never know you might just offer her an inocent lift to the next hostel... Cheers and good luck! |

I came home from travelling for 4 years, and found my lover in the next town. Turns out he likes travel too, and we are good travel buddies as well as best friends.lovers. Win!
Thought it would never happen. Like you say, don't look, they come from the most unexpected places.:scooter: |
Met my current partner, a Swiss lady on a ferry in Norway towards the end of my last long trip. She's another traveller and the problem is we now have two people generating ideas - there's too much world and not enough time.

I’ve often wondered the same thing. I’m on my own weird version of ATW, begun after a series of personal tragedies 3 years ago, that so far has involved walking, traveling by public transportation, and riding pillion on a handful of motorcycles. I would love to find someone who rides solo but wouldn’t mind a pillion, and have it turn into something lasting. But I’d rather be alone than with the wrong person, as I imagine most of us on this forum would.
And yeah, I’ve been carrying my helmet with me all over Europe for the past 6 months (Yes, I use it, just not as often as I wish). |

Travelling
I met my South African born wife in Israel on a Kibbutz, I was headed towards Africa & she was headed to Europe, both of us decided to take a break on the Kibbutz & 30years later we are still together riding a motorcycle around the world !!!!
I have met heaps of women that are travelling & ask me if I have any friends for them !:innocent:so they are out there but just because they are travellers I think you need a little more than that to make things work !!!:D Cheers Paul |
It’s a funny old world...
Just three months after posting this and cracking on with restoring the first of two battered old Transalps... I have met a quite remarkable woman and now think she’s the reason I ended up buying two knackered bikes instead of one! We’re now making plans to take our first trip together when both the bikes are restored and ready for new adventures! I’m on cloud nine right now [emoji16][emoji16][emoji16] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
