México in August anyone?
Hey all,
I live in toluca, Mexico (just west of Mexico City) and always have the month of August free. My riding buddy had to cancel on me for this year so just wondering if anyone has anything interesting in mind and are looking for company. I ride a dr650, like to travel light, speak Spanish and like adventures. Pavement, dirt, camping, hostels, street food, meeting new people, riding far or near. Send a message if you're interested. Thinking of heading towards Oaxaca for starters...

During "Winter" (May through Oct.) the mornings are often nice, and if you're up high (over 5K ft., then not too hot. At lower elevation things are a bit different. Typically, by Noon or so ... it can warm up ... and cloud up and eventually rain. Not every day, but most days. How much rain? Depends. Aug, Sept Oct, Nov are also prime Hurricane season and usually bring most rainfall, so storms can affect how much rain fall you get. Or, it might just rain an hour or two. ?Quien sabe? During this time of year I like staying up in the highlands. But Brian is from Toluca, which is pretty high up, so he may be looking for more tropical zones. Oaxaca is (IIRC) at about 3 to 4K ft. Is classified Tropical. Once you go down to the coast and South, MAN does it get HOT. This stretch is SUB tropical. As hot or hotter than Baja but with 90% humidity, Mangrove swamps, Mosquitos and Snakes ... and rain as well. By late Oct or November the rain "Usually" tapers off ... but with global warming no longer an "Alternate Fact" ... all bets off, anything possible. :rain::rain::rain: !Que le via muy bien! bier |
Mollydog nailed it pretty well, so I won't comment on that.
I just enjoy good company, good riding and good food. Don't care where I end up- beach, mountains, wet, dry- it's all good. |
I might just get there
Thanks fellas .Any chance of storing my bike in Toluca ? Great if so because of cheap Interjet flights from Cabo.I've been thinking about it for a few years , pax macc maybe you could pm me your number .Ive got my mexican cell with me.

Wow! That is SO COOL!
HUBB heroes score another one! I'm going to Mexico soon, but not by bike. Flying to Cancun for Dental work. If anyone knows a closer and very good dental set up down there, I'd love to know. (need a few Implants) Have a great ride guys, be safe out there! bier |
It'll be steamy in cancun
If you don't need a beach break you might try Mexico City or Guadalajara. .just a thought.Showing up expecting fast excellent treatment could be challenging in resort towns.Of course a lot of people weave it in to there vacation ..but implants are serious business.I'm sure there's a ton of guys in DF with all the answers you need. And Mexico City could be fun.I was there a couple of times last year getting Mexicanized. .

Thanks for ideas!
Actually there is a dental outfit in Cancun that has been recommended to me ... only reason I'd go that far. USA trained Dentist there. You're right, implants very serious business. I wouldn't just show up, but set it all up ahead. This is a very slick outfit set up to work with Gringos. Sure, probably not the cheapest but word is they are quite good .. as good or BETTER than many USA Dentists. Who knows ? I'm sure there are dozens of good Dentists in DF or Guadalajara too. I lived in DF for 2 months working on a film there and up in Real De Catorce. Ages ago. Great times. bier |

Low budget independent, Spanish/Mexican co-production that never got released in USA, I never even saw finished film. It was called (at time of production) was "La Flecha". (The Arrow) No big stars ... but lots of fun. 1995.
