Where do you plan to cross? Me and a couple more KLR are heading to Ushuaia in November. I am in Kingsville on U.S. 77. We are planning to go along the gulf coast, Cuidad Victoria, Tampico, Veracruz, Palenque, probably cross at Pregresso.

Terahumera Festival
I'm planning on going into the Copper Canyon (Barancas del Cobre) the first two weeks of March 2015. I want to see the festival they make of Easter. You would too. Read " Gods' Middle Finger" and if you change your date , contact me. Ken I like to cross at Presido. Trailer my bike close to border. I live in Iowa.

Me and my wife are planning on being in that area around then. Www.mudandknobblies.co.uk keep in touch.

I might go down again-no plan or itinerary at this early date but I don't go until after 1/1 either way. Say more about your idea for a trip?
FWIW, it takes more than Spanish fluency to have an amicable ride partner. i have next to none, wish I did but too old to "get it"... As the riding group size goes up the odds do worsen for all to have commonality. Two's almost a crowd for me, not quite. Iowa guy-I've read the book-he wrote several others of interest too. Is CC your total plan? |
The Plans...........
Well no, I'm pretty flexible, what do you have in mind? I just want to be in Guadalupe Coronado the Thursday before Easter to see the Obscene Perpetrations in full Bloom. Thursday, Friday and leave Saturday morning.

Mexico an South
It is now 2015. Has this trip started? I was planning on leaving for Guadalajara in April, but things changed. I can leave Phila. as early as the middle of February.
|
Still On?
Are there any updates to your itinerary?
Do you have a date of departure yet? My plans may have changed and would be able to leave earlier than expected, possibly by late February. I would love to join others as this is my first solo trip. Let me know. |
Mexico 2015
My plans are in flux. I am still planning on leaving within the next two months. I don't have a hard date. I will be leaving from the Philadelphia, PA. I need to settle a couple of things then I will be off.
I plan to cross at Eagle Pass. Where are you leaving from? Wayne |
Rolling away from Connecticut in 2 weeks (hopefully) . Anyone going to be on the road towards Mexico then?
|
Currently in Tucson, AZ. Just about 75 miles north of the border.
May be able to leave late February, early March. Love the idea of seeing copper canyon. Does this fit anyone's timeline? Cynthia PS: need to be honest, fairly new to riding, that's why I was not wanting to start off solo...don't know if it is an issue. |

We started out from New York in July 2014 on XT250's, we came down through Baja and Mexico and are now in Yukutan.
We came from Mazatlan, Puerta Vallarta, Guadalajara, Guanajuato, Mexico City, Palenque, Chitchen Itza, now in Tulum. PM us for info if you need it, we'll happily help if we can. Tim and Lily. x |

My plans are solidifying: Heading to Traveler's Meeting in Virginia beginning of April. From there either continuing south to Mexico or return to Philly to finish closing my house. Must be in Tlaquepaque first week of June. Anyone want to ride south?

GeauxBiker's almost ready
My KLR is pretty much ready. Again, from the New Orleans area and my ride dates are flexible. Ready as soon as I can get my IRS tax forms filed, hopefully by early March. Appreciate the responses above and will be checking back in on a regular basis. My thoughts are to the Copper Canyon areas; to Mazatlan and lots of the smaller towns between here and there. This will be my first trip on a bike and would obviously like to be with someone with experience. My Spanish is very limited, but I'm studying. At best, very basic. Might do some together and then split and then meet back up if destination priorities are different. From a safety standpoint, prefer to ride with another. I am a budget, but it'll bend some. Open to camping where safe, hostels, etc. If interested, please let me know. Good to see Kintuck on the site.

I'll be in New Orleans on Wednesday. Want to meet up?

When you going?
Aerohead
I'm looking to leave New Orleans area not later than 15 March. Have some business issues to deal with that's holding me up. Also, like the weather warming up a bit. Let me know your location and itinerary. Maybe we might cross paths. I'm all new to this, so any help is appreciated. Riding a KLR650. Still making my mods and packing, planning. Plan to cross at Nuevo Laredo and then down to Durango and Mazatlan. From there, who knows? Got 30 to 45 days or more. Hablo un poco de Espanol. I struggle, but hell, I'll learn more there. Might hole up down there awhile and learn more. Quote:

Date Set
Going to the Travelers Meeting in Virginia in April, then back to Philly for a month. Will be leaving for Mexico 9 May. Heading for Tlaquepaque for two weeks of Spanish language immersion. Planning to cross at Eagle Pass/Piedras Negras. Easy riding--6 hour days, motel and camping.
That's the plan as of today. Anyone interested in joining me is welcome. |
