South from Nogales tomorrow...

Headed south from Nogales to Guaymas tomorrow Dec 3rd if anyone heading that way and wants to ride together...

We're a 50 year old Brit couple who want to travel from NY down through Central America and on to South America but we aim to start in March.
Anyone travelling down a bit later?

stupidtourist 4 Dec 2015 03:22

Solo traveler here. Planning to depart from Houston down through central Mexico and onto Guatemala. I'm hoping to leave right after Christmas / early January. Does that fit anyone's travel plans?

New-ish rider here but well traveled overland through Africa. Prefer to go slow, flexible on timing, though I am planning to cover a lot of ground so wouldn't want to be in Mexico *too* long!

the Foreign and Commonwealth Office lists Mexico and the Central American countries as hugely dangerous for violent crime and kidnapping. Does anyone here have any recent news or experience?

I've been living and traveling all over Mexico for the last 15 years. I ride my moto all over. I spent last week riding all over Central Mexico. I'm having a blast riding around Mexico and Central America with foreign riders that I've met on here for the last 2 weeks and the next 6 weeks.

I don't find Latin America to be any more dangerous than anywhere else. Use common sense and you'll probably be fine. I was a victim of crime in my native New York City many more times than I have ever been in Latin America.

Jeff
I'm leaving first week of Feb from Tennessee, crossing border at Brownsville and traveling to Cancun to catch the Stahlratte boat to Cuba. I'm flexible on departure but need to be in Cancun by March 1 at the latest. I'm 60, will ride a Triumph Scrambler and enjoy a leisurely pace. PM me if you want to talk about potentially traveling together for the first leg of your journey.

Hello,

We will be riding from Calgary, AB, Canada to Machu Picchu next March 2016. We will head south through I-15.

It seems to me we can be in touch and eventually ride couple miles together from some point in Mexico or Guatemala. We will take the Panamerican HWY.

I will ship our BMW R1200GS in Panama to Bogota by plane or if I can get a sail boat to Cartagena. From there Quito, Machu Picchu, Brazil, Uruguay, Argentine and returning by the Pacific (Chile).

We are a couple (58/59), rode over 70.000 Miles last 4 years. We can communicate well in Spanish and Portuguese.

Cheers,

John & Gle

Just messed up a reply so I'll do it here. I'm in Manzanillo, I have an R1200GSA and I'll be going somewhere for a while in January. If any of you want to travel around with an old guy who just finished the Silk Road give me a shout.

Mexico in Jan/Feb from CA/AZ

My plans had to change at the last minute but I am looking to reschedule a trip to central and southern Mexico and maybe farther in late January or February. Looking for riding partner. I have been down Baja and across before but could do again, but mainly interested in the mainland Pacific beaches and central sites. I am 57, retired, limited Spanish, experienced rider and riding a K1600. Anyone similar interests please give me a shout!

Nevada to Baja feb 22 March 4 2016

I will be loading a bike ... Likely Honda Varadero, and should arrive February 22 into Nevada, where I will off load my bike. my goal is to travel to Cabo San Lucas and return by March 4th. I will be hotelling it and planned to return via the Baja but would consider taking the ferry across to the main land and returning.

back north

Anybody planning to drive back north from Panama to the US starting around mid / end of March? If yes I would be interested to join.
Me - Swiss 48 - on KTM 1290.

Sooscreek, I am leaving from Vancouver island in 2-3 weeks if the weather cooperates. If not I will be looking for a truck or Uhaul down. I plan to explore Central America. Maybe you would like to share a ride south and split the costs? The forecast is not looking good with rain and snow all the way to the mx border.

Good day

I am leaving Alberta feb 26th and that sound like a good trip. I would join you for the part to the Baja ferry. I only have two weeks for this trip. Riding either a Victory Cross Country or a Honda Varadero adv bike.
Enjoy beer, a cigar and a flexible schedule.
