mexico with a silent x!
Hey everyone,
I posted a similar thread about a month ago to generate interest in crossing the border with a few people for company and safety. I have found a few interested individuals and I thought I would throw one more thread up here as a last effort to pick up anyone else. I am planning on being in San Diego during the 3rd or 4th week of October. My email is rpopma89@gmail.com and this is the best place to get in touch. I am having a blast on my trip so far and I am very much looking forward to mexico. Safe travels and positive thoughts my friends! Cheers! |
In Tiajuana, the office of Aduana where you get your bike importation is east of the airport. You can pick up tourist visas in several spots, including right there at the border, but you gotta get that bike importation paperwork! You make payment right there ($400 for a new bike). You need copies plus originals of the title, registration, and your passport (plus a copy of the importation paperwork) It down't take long to get it. Riding the Baja right now is great, cooler on the Pacific side. few travelers, so the locals are proud to see you!

The new San Yisidro crossing has Aduana and vehicle temp. import. No need to head out towards Otay if you are a non- mex national.

Smoke, what's the "import paperwork"? Is this the bill of lading from import to the US dealer?
Looks like I'm at the border on Nov 1. or so, I've been in touch with rufio2289 and may cross with him - but he's staying pavement from Ensinada and I'm heading to the East side to San Filipe. Would love to meet-up with anyone on Baja doing gravel roads. I plan on hugging the east coast, then criss-crossing to Geurroro Negro and back east on gravel - eventually down to Cabo then back up to La Paz to catch the ferry. Probably two weeks in Baja. |

Thanks Smoke. I have multiple color copies of my title and registration.
It sounds like you rode the gravel south of San Filipe, though to Coco's? How is the gravel in that area? Are you seeing much sand? I'm looking for any gravel routes you can recommend. Can't wait to get down there! |
