Morocco to South Africa leaving July.

I am looking for a traveling partner to travel through west Africa. I am riding all the way to Cape Town. I will be going through the areas that were affected by Ebola earlier this year but are now safe.
Once I have made it to Accra I plan on heading through Nigeria quite quickly then start to slow down again once in Cameroon. From Cameroon to DRC I dont have any plans. I want to go through DRC all the way from Kinshasa to Lubumbashi. I spent 5 years driving overland trucks in East Africa so that is why Im heading down the east coast of Mozambique because I've done most of the standard route in East Africa. I wanted to go to Lake Turkana in Kenya when I was working there and never got the chance so will be heading up to do that. Attached is a route guide to the route. I am going to be in Morocco on the 7th July to collect my bike and start heading south. Patrick |

Hello Patrick
Last month I rode from Morocco to Nigeria. I left my BMW gs 1200 in Abuja. I am now back in Texas USA with plans to return in sept to continue my trip to South Africa. I Met a man in Abuja that was from France that had just ridden up from South Africa on a gs 650 and he said it was punishment. That a 250 would have Beene better choice. What are you riding? Thanks Josh |

Im riding a well set up KTM 690R. Long travel suspension twin front tanks. It only weights 175kg loaded. |
Josh the big BMW would be a hand full on the roads through DRC or the ones I plan on taking. What are your plans or the route you intend to take? I would be somewhere close to Nigeria by September. I would have been in East Africa by September if my plans had worked out but I had an accident in the desert playing around and snapped my collarbone.
Would be good to catch up for a beer and chat. Patrick https://www.facebook.com/drcanafrica...?ref=bookmarks |
Hello Patrick
I hope you will be ok. You have a nice bike. I don't have a planed route it doesn't really matter to me. I'll be back in Abuja sept 11. I'm even considering buying a smaller bike and shipping it to Nigeria and shipping GS back home. Would like to post a pic but don't know how. Thanks Josh |
