Myanmar and Thailand. Mid-October 2018
Hello all,
I’d like to cross Myanmar and Thailand starting on mid-October, for 10-14 days. After that, I’ll spend around 10 days in Laos/Cambodia and head to Malaysia (second crossing through Thailand, 4 days) I contacted a couple agencies for this, therefore I cannot yet say the dates for getting it/out nor the price. As soon as I have feedback from them, I’ll let you know. In total it would be around 4-5 weeks for Myanmar, Thailand, Laos and Cambodia. Nothing is set, therefore still open to negotiation.. :) Let me know if anyone is interested, so we can share the cost of the agencies. Cheers Samuel |
travelling onward

This is an example for a 14 days crossing. It is possible to arrange a shorter one, the agency is flexible on this, and it would be obiously cheaper.
This is proposed for a Myanmar/Thailand crossing to Laos and Cambodia. After that, it is needed to cross Thailand again to reach Malaysia. It would be possible also to cross directly to Malaysia, skipping Laos and Cambodia Day 1: Moreh/Tamu Border – Gangaw (250KM) Day 2: Gangaw – Bagan (250Km) Day 3: Bagan Sightseeing Day 4: Bagan – Mandalay sightseeing (170KM) Day 5: Mandalay – Inle Lake (300KM) Day 6: Inle Lake sightseeing Day 7: Inle Lake – Naypyidaw (300Km) Day 8: Naypyidaw – Golden Rock (350M) Day 9: Golden Rock – Myawaddy – Maesot (250Km) (Border Crossing to Thailand) Day 10: Maesot – Mae Sariang (250Km) Day 11: Mae Sariang – Pai – Chiang Mai (420 KM) Day 12: Chiang Relax Day 13: Chiang Mai – Wat Rongkhun – Chiang Rai – Chiang Khong (300KM) Day 14: Chiang Khong – Hoayxay – Laos For the second part in Thailand, the quickest route is Day 1: Poipet/Aranyaprathet – Bangkok (250KM) Day 2: Bangkok – Chumphon (480KM) Day 3: Chumphon – Hatyai (480KM) Day 4: Hatyai – Sadao border – Malaysia (50KM) The price for the first part (14 days) is 1400USD (Group of 8). 1690USD (Group of 6) and 1700USD (group of 4). The price for the second would be 570USD (4), 700USD(6), 570USD(8) It seems that for Thailand a group under 5 vehicles needs 1 guide and 1 escort car, a group between 5-15, 2 guides and 2 cars and over 15, 3 guides and 3 cars. This is why the cost of a 6 and 8 persons group is still so high. At I said at the beggining, the exact route and duration of the crossing is open to discussion. Cheers Samuel |
The second option would be to cross Myanmar and Thailand and head directly for Malaysia. This is a proposal for a 14 days crossing. Although I think it would be better to spend a few days more in Thailand.
Day 1: Moreh/Tamu Border – Gangaw (250KM) Day 2: Gangaw – Bagan (250Km) Day 3: Bagan Sightseeing Day 4: Bagan – Mandalay sightseeing (170KM) Day 5: Mandalay – Inle Lake (300KM) Day 6: Inle Lake sightseeing Day 7: Inle Lake – Naypyidaw (300Km) Day 8: Naypyidaw – Golden Rock (350M) Day 9: Golden Rock – Myawaddy – Maesot (250Km) (Border Crossing to Thailand) Day 10: Maesot – Bangkok (500Km) Day 11: Bangkok (0 KM) Day 12: Bangkok – Chumphon (460Km) Day 13: Chumphon – Hatyai (490 KM) Day 14: Hatyai – Sadao Border (60 KM) |
Would that option be around the same price as the 14 days first option, India to Laos?

Hi All,
I am also planning to cross Myanmar and Thailand to Malaysia on mid-September 2018. Is it too early for you? |
Agencies
At the moment we are still in Indonesia.
We are looking into crossing Thailand from Malaysia over a few months then Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam. Shipping to South Korea and further with the ferry to Vladivostok. By any chance do you have the agencies details to contact and get some quotes to cross Thailand. |
