Nairobi- Addis Ababa
Hi - We will be travelling the Marsabit road in Kenya to Ethiopia starting around the 16 / 17 January 15. We are in a slow overland truck and would appreciate a bit of company. Then we plan to go to Sudan, Saudi, Jordan, Israel and ship to Turkey. Lets us know if you are planning something similar. Clive and Ann

There can't be another Clive and Ann!
I'm Clive and I have had a few ladies in my life called Ann or Anne! Clive is not a very common name. Enjoy your trip! |
It was being paved when I did it in 2010. But then it was still a really hard ride and took two days. We kissed the pavement afterwards.
Piece of piss on four wheels though. Mates of mine did it in a VW T4 although half the van fell off haha. Would be nice to hear what it's like now. |

Took the road some 4 months ago. Lots of construction work going on, many bypasses, slow going, very tiresome - even in a 4x4 Land Rover -:) 10 hours to cover the 250 km. (!) from Henry's Rest Camp in Marsabit (a dump) to Bekele Moja Hotel in Moyale at the border. Happy travels, Gee |
Its paved from Nairobi to marsabit ?? That was all horrendous sand and rock in 2010.

6 October 2014: Sometimes pristine tarmac, sometimes very bad piste. As said: lots of roadworks and slow going. Heavy military presence, American troops in Kenyan trucks (wave! Cheers, Gee |
Sigh. There goes the neighborhood. Easy riding doesn't always mean good...

Hello Clive and Ann,
We will be doing the road early April 2015, in a 4x4. If you're 3 months late... we can do it together, if not, we are looking for information. Let us know if your trip was nice. Then, we are looking for info for long-term storage in Addis. If you have, please MP me. Ciao |
