Nordkapp - July and August 2022
Hey,
how's everything? I wanted you to know that I'm planning my 2nd long trip (the first was 21 years ago to Turkey). This time to the north. To Nordkapp. Starting in July 2022 from Slovenia, going via Austria, Czech Republic, Poland, Germany, Sweden and Norway. Travelling back via Russia, Belarus, Poland, Germany, Czech Republic and Austria. Altogether that would make about 15.000 km. The route is not fixed and alternatives are always possible. I'm inviting fellow travellers to join me on the journey (or on its parts). Meeting new good people and sharing common experiences is priceless for me. Welcome to contact me via HU messaging system. Best, Nord |
Sounds like an amazing trip.
Lets hope some of those countries open up by then. I tried to get a Belarus visa but that was a no go. Also I don't think it's possible to visit Russia. Alternate route could be through Finland -> Baltics. |
My 2022 plan is a trip across central Asia, but that depends on borders and covid. Six months sounds like a long time but it's not looking very hopeful just now. If that doesn't come off hopefully Europe will be a bit more open, in which case I'll probably head up through N Europe and the Baltic states to the Nordkapp, down NO and DK and ferry to Iceland and the Faroes before heading back home to UK. Approx 2 months/8,000 miles, sometime in summer ;)
Will need to assess nearer the date either way. Anything could happen the way things are going these days. |
Yes, in the meantime lots can happen, but keeping fingers crossed, right. I hope we will meet somewhere and or get together for at least some parts of our journeys :)

No...
Is it allowed to enter Russia by land? Entry does not apply to land. For this, coordination with the staff to combat the coronavirus at Deputy Prime Minister Tatyana Golikova is still necessary. An exception for a single entry applies to foreign nationals with a permanent residence permit (VNZh) in Russia. Gesendet von meinem SM-A515F mit Tapatalk |
Sounds like a plan - am planning simmilar route starting from Warsaw, Poland. Not sure about the dates yet though. Let's stay in touch.

Hi Nord,
You could return from Nordkapp thru Finland, check this presentation of TET route thru Finland. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yEitY0L13A8&t=23s From Finland you could take the ferry to Estonia and ride Via Baltica down to Poland and from there back home. Have to admit that Via Baltica can be boring and have lots of trucks, but you could ride the smaller roads. You can avoid Russia and Belarus riding Via Baltica. If you need some assistance concerning Finland, let me know. |
Via Baltica is no more of a recommended route through the Baltics than the E6 is a recommended route through Norway. :) It's there if you need to get somewhere quickly. But there are MUCH better alternatives.
I've described some fun routes in a different thread here just recently: https://www.horizonsunlimited.com/hu...688#post626590 and that's not even talking about the Estonian islands. |
wich route? lets contact ill start from Athenes

Hey!
The summer is coming, so here's my latest plan: starting 1st July 2022 from Slovenia -> Austria -> Germany -> Sweden -> Norway -> *Lofoten* -> *Nordkapp* and back more or less the same route. Coming home on or before 7th August 2022. About 10.000 km (or less) , approx. 300 km per day, occasionally one day off. In Norway mostly pitching tent and on low budget food (stores, restaurants only on special occasions). Who's coming with me? Best, Nord |
