Peru anyone going?
Hi,
My wife and I are currently travelling north, 2 up on one bike. At present we are in Mendoza and expecting to be entering Peru in around a month or so. Given the present situation we are looking into options. One is to transport the bike across Peru via truck and fly to Ecuador (not my first choice). Another option maybe to join other travellers in Bolivia for security in numbers and travel together. If there are other travellers thinking the same it would be good to hear from you. We are English, German and Spanish speaking if anyone wants to message us. Simon. |
Perhaps we can meet
Hello Simon,
I will start in Mendoza in september, going to Bolivia an then to Peru, Ecuador and Columbia. Until now I didn't get informations that the situation in Bolivia and Peru should be so dangerous to have to use a truck. But I'm not informed detailly I confess. Perhaps we can meet in Bolivia, where I will arrive between 15th an 2o th september. I'm occupied in planning the trip. Kind regards Rainer |
I wouldn't worry too much about "trucking it through Peru." Ecuador has really nice riding and I recommend checking out Cuenca. Spend a lot of time in Colombia if you can also.

Always worth checking the dates on posts before responding....
I heard from some friends who spent a couple of weeks in Ecuador recently, and they sounded chastened by the situation there. They're not riders, but one of the couple is an experienced traveler, fluent in Spanish, and not easily frightened. In particular, they said many roads are dangerous these days. I'd take it all with a grain of salt, of course. But it does sound worth keeping an ear to the ground, particularly in light of the election. Mark |
