peru to panama city to san diego.
hey there,
I am leaving cuzco, peru on october 19th and beginning the long trek northward through ecuador and colombia, then boating it to panama. from panama city i will head on up the west coast through central america and mexico until i hit san diego, california. if anyone out there will be travelling any of those stretches in the very near future, please let me know, it would be great to ride with you. i am a 26 year old american male. best to your adventures! |
Which way?
Which route are you taking thru Peru? Up the center (that I highly recommend depending on skill and bike) or down to the coast and up??

mountains to coast
toby,
i was going to try and head up through central peru. however, after 3 days riding through mountain roads, im making a break for the coast today. its been fun but hellacious. and i dont feel like eeking along like a snail and-or nearly falling off more cliffs, id like to start covering more ground. so ill hit pisco today and start northward from there. also, im trying to plan for a boat from cartegena, colombia to colon, panama. but all i keep reading about is how its not possible, or that is extremely expensive if possible. if you know anything, give a shout. cheers. |
Yo, I'm in Azoques, Ecuador now.
Hey man.
I've been riding from Seattle, and am on month number 6 at the moment. I got laid up in Azoques, Ecuador after a collision with a drunk man that walked in front of me on the highway here. I've been here for 3 weeks with some more to go. (Not really sure). So, If you want to meet up. Let me know, send me a P.M or email me bigalsmith101(at)gmail.com Also, My friends and I (6 bikes in total) took the Stahlratte from Colon, Panama to Cartegena, Colombia. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THE BOAT, though it's $820 per person&bike. $450 for person alone. www.stahlratte.org: Ongoing Tours Also, Fritz the Cat does that run as well. My friends Tom and Charlie took that route through central Peru and it took them 6 days, cracked both of there pannier racks, caused a fork seal to leak, and blew out a shock! Have fun! (The previous 12k miles were to blame as well of course.) Keep me posted amigo! --Alex |
