Pyrenees Trails 2014
 

I am keen to ride to Spain and enjoy riding off road in the Pyrenees. I have never done this before.

My experience is limited to travelling around the UK and a couple of French and Spanish tours on tarmac.

I have completed two "off road skills" courses in Wales with Simon Pavey's team. Whilst I felt very comfortable and confident, I must still consider myself a beginner.

I wont slow you down unless you are an expert who wants to cover miles as opposed to enjoy taking in the scenery.

What time of year and for how long are you thinking of going? I'd be up for a couple of weeks around Easter perhaps?
Going to India next summer too if you're interested? Hiring Enfields, 4-5 weeks from Chandighar to Manali and Leh and the surrounding area..

What bike are you on?...I have friends in catalunya that I visit a few times a year,there's some great riding where they are located in foothills of Pyrenees.
Obviously the bike in question dictates what you can ride,I'd say about 90 percent of what I've ridden there is do able on my xt 600 tenere,with some of he harder bits I've done on a 250/300 gas gas or even the mighty yamaha it 175..no power but good on realy technical stuff.

Have you looked at the Vibraction road books. You could do all of it on any bike with a set of knobblies really. I've just got back last week and there was nothing really technical about it

Took my Serow to the Pyrenees last year and loved it. There's a lot of easy and technical trails. My trip was organised by Simon (Spanish_Biker):

Hi Pjw,

a bit too early for me to say, but I was considering doing some offroading in Spain around the time you are going.
My initial plan is (on very early stage yet) to do the Transportugal (Basauritik mundura... motorrez: la TRANSPORTUGAL en moto) down to Andalucia, and then Seville, my hometown.

But, Pyrenees is something I have been wanting to do for a while, and next year is looking good for that.

I will keep an eye on the thread or feel free to let me know about your steps.
Do you plan to ride till there, of shipping to Santander?

I heard there are good trails in Hertforshire. Are you practising your off-roading skills over there? I went last weekend with the TRF guys around Harperden, but trails were too muddy for my dual sport tyres on my Tenere :scooter:

I've decided to put the Pyrenees off for a while.

I am going to Morocco instead, with the aim of crossing Africa in 2015.

Morocco is just for experience and to make sure I can cut it.

I will let you know when Pyrenees or similar is back on the agenda.
