Republic of Georgia; Fly and Ride August 15
I am flying to Tbilisi in mid August for 20 days of riding and hiking in the Georgian mountains. I will be renting a KTM 690. Looking for a few partners to share the adventure.
Georgia is one of the few countries allowing vaccinated travelers to arrive with no restrictions - no tests or quarantines. You merely show proof of full vaccination and off you go. There will 4 efforts; Tusheti, Kazbegi/Shatili, Svaneti loop (Lentheki, Ushguli, Mestia, Zugdudi), and Adjara loop. The riding is both on and off pavement, and some mountain roads are precarious (Imalo most notably). I have traveled to Georgia twice. The country is remarkably beautiful, the food is insanely delicious, and the people are notorious for hospitality. I don’t return to countries often. Georgia is an exception. |
I am unable to join you but agree with your sentiments about Georgia, it is a beautiful country to visit and ride in.

Hey man I just made it into Georgia with my X-Challenge 650! Love to join for a few legs of the trip. I'll be here the rest of the year so no rush and no worries hahaha After being trapped in Turkey the last 14 months I'm really excited to explore Georgia as well!

Hi Nate!
Glad you made it over the border! I will definitely ping when I’m departing. I’m getting my KTM 600 from RIM Adventures in Rustavi, will choose legs depending on weather. Enjoy your stay in Georgia!

Hi:
I have a similar route plan in Georgia, but 15 days before. One question: Have you ever envisaged the option of going to Armenia from Georgia? Some bike rentals allow it, but I don't know how easy it'll be with the covid... Thanks. Good luck. |
I didn't find a bike rental which allowed crossing the border into Armenia. There were tours which did so, but tours are 1) Out of my financial league, and 2) Not my style.
This was just a couple of years ago, but before COVID. FWIW, bike rentals are pretty easily found in either country--more expensive in Georgia. Hope that's helpful. Mark |
