Riding James Bay and Trans-Taiga Roads in late August 2009
1 Attachment(s)
Fellow riders,
I am a neophyte planning to ride James Bay and Trans-Taiga Roads in late August 2009. I will appreciate an advice of those who’ve done it. Also, it would be great to find a company. Cheers, A3APT |
I'm thinking about the same route, late Aug, early Sept. My schedule keeping getting crunched. My original plan was North Carolina to Chisasibi, the Trans-Taiga then back via the North road, on a 650 GS. I may end up "just" doing the James Bay to Raddison on a 1200RT. Please post any info you receive.

James Bay Road
GSing,
It was nice to see your post. I was getting sad – it seemed to me that all HU users are traveling only to fantastic places on other continents and the Moon itself :-) No one was interested in exploring Canadian North… Anyway, my schedule is set. I am departing from Toronto on August 23 and I need to be back on September 2. If weather stays dry I will try to push all the way to Brisay dam, the terminus of the Trans-Taiga Road. If it rains heavily during the last week or two I will not risk it in the mud and go to Radisson only. I want to check out Cree villages on James Bay shores if time permits. I’d love to hear back from you. Cheers, A3APT |
James Bay Road
I found and saved quite a lot of references to the James Bay and Trans Taiga Roads. This site is the most comprehensive http://www.jamesbayroad.com/ (many thanks Mr. Walter Muma!)

Last call :-) Anyone to North Quebec? Only two weeks left…

7 of us are leaving Ottawa on Sept 4th, taking the North Road up to James Bay Road, then up to the salt water for a "dip the toe" then doing the Trans Tiaga, returning on the James bay Road.
Perhaps we will run into each other up there and have a coffee. I dont utilize this site often (as you can see I finally joined up for this post), but pm me on advrider (same user name) if you want to get in touch. |
