Riding west from Vladivostok 10th of May 2016
 

Hey guys,

I'm just wondering if there is anybody out there who starts riding east from Vladivostok beginning of May? My bike is on it's way to Vladivostok and I fly there on the 5th of May.

Would be great to find some people to join. My next stop is Mongolia and Kazakhstan... I've got about 4 month to reach Europe!

Sounds like your trip will be much like mine, only I've got to wait another 12 months!
I'd be really interested in hearing about some of the finer details of your prep. Will you be posting updates while you're away here or on a blog?
Can I ask who you went with for shipping the bike and cost? I'm at the stage where I need to get serious about the budget and safe to say this will be one of the biggest expenses.

Will be about 2 weeks behind you. Flying to South Korea on the 18th to pick up the bike then riding over to the ferry in Donghae and on to Vlad around the 23rd May.

that sounds cool... how much time did you plan to reach Europe?

8-12 weeks. I don't have the luxury of an unlimited timeframe. Budgeting 100 days or so for the whole trip back to the UK

I have about 15 weeks to reach Germany. Which countries are you planing to visit? Are you going to enter Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan is well? Make sure you don't miss out on Mongolia :-)

Russia - Mongolia - Russia - Kazakhstan - Kyrgyzstan then maybe Tajikistan.
Europe wise I'm aiming for NordKapp. If I'm ahead of schedule I want to try and fit in the Stelvio in Italy the Transfăgărășan Romania and Grimsel Pass in Switzerland before heading to the Uk.

Hi Mario,

I am currently in Busan, South Korea. My bike ought to arrive around 11May or so. Then I'll catch the weekly ferry to Vlad on my way to Ulan-Ude to get the Mongol visa. So I am a little behind you, perhaps will catch up or you have time to wait. BTW where have you been staying in Vlad? ay tips?
Surely will see you on the road somehow.

Our bikes get there (Busan)on 15 May. Aiming for the 22 May ferry to Vlad.
Then Vlad for a couple of days to have look around and onward to Mongolia

Got my bike out of Customs - phewww. Booked ferry for this Sun 15th to Vlad. Then 2 nights in Vlad - then off to Khabarovsk.
Not sure about access to www on this part.

Depends where you're from

Franco, AFAIK in Ulan-Ude is a Mongolian Embassy where one can apply. Apparently the turn-around time is rather quick, however all hearsay no 1st-hand experience. I am soon to find out...
