RTW trip 2011/2012
Looking to do a RTW trip either next year or 2012 depending on work and finance .
I did South America about 3 years ago on a Yamaha XT600E with a mate and I'm itching to do another trip . I have a Yamaha XT660R witch I have partly modified for my next adventure and I'm looking for somebody to join me for this next trip . My plan is to go west starting with shipping my bike to New York riding to Alaska , fly to Russia and then keep going west until in Europe and to finish in my home town of Bristol . Of course there would be a lot to sort out and plan but I would like to meet up with other traveller/s wishing to join me . I have one mate who thinks he may be able to join me in 2012 , so who is out there , drop me a line . Dave . |
2012, most likely leaving in April/May from Atlanta, GA going to Hamburg/Germany. At this point 60% sure that it's going to happen.
Atlanta - Anchorage (preferred) Anchorage - Vladivostok (air-transport) Vladivostok - Ulan Ude Ulan Ude - Ulaanbaatar Ulaanbaatar - Almaty Almaty - ... Choice of weapon '09 GS. |
ahoy,
I'm also mid planning a trip 2011. I'm from Aus and planning on buying a bike in south america, travelling north to states/canada. i was initially going to go west across russia etc but i'd have to double back to go home to Aus. instead now probably going east from NY to europe, down through europe through a bit of Africa and across Asia by bike or trans siberian...depending. Just so you know if your plans change there is someone going west to east out there. Best of luck, Rossy. |
3 of us
Will be headed north from Seattle towards the Arctic Circle come the summer of 2012. If you are starting in New York, we may meet somewhere along the way. Our date is pretty well set in stone, and we are planning to ride around the world from North to South. We'll head to Ushuaia after making it to the Arctic.

My journey will start near Buffalo in New York State which is where I will get my motorcycle shipped to and I will simply head west for Russia . I have yet to find out what I will be needing regarding paper work but I will focus more on that next year . If you are doing pretty much the same then I would like to hook up in the US whilst on route . If you have started to make any plans then maybe you could share them with me . |

- slowly but surely making the GS mechanically fit for RTW travel. - invested in camping gear (high quality, small size, light weight) - have already bought a couple of maps Russia, Mongolia, Ukraine, Belarus - Looking into Russian language courses - have been looking into air-transport options form Anchorage, AK and Vancouver - Have lined up a couple of smaller camping trips in the local area for gear testing I have 8-10, maybe 12 weeks to complete the trip once started. It is more purpose driven than just hanging and enjoying. But, I believe that is doable without rushing through the miles... I'll PM you my contact info :thumbup1: |
