route to chiapas

hi, the fastest and easiest. off and on mex. 180 down from matamoros to tampico the first day. the second day you can take the shortcut around tuxpan, through alamo, and then back on 180 down the coast, on the coast there are hundreds of great off season hotels, right on the water. the third day still on 180 went as far as agua dulce, which is real close to the brand new toll road, through the mountins, muy map does not even give it a # but is is great, and on to tuxla gutierrez, and on toi san cristobal, on any good map the rought is obvious. took both toll and non toll roads, and overall it was great. lots of great people, and the police and military were all friendly and helpful.

have a safe trip

I just finished a month of Spanish in Xela, now in El Salvador.
While in Xela, I recommend eating at the Sabor India restaurant, best food of the trip so far. I'll be moving on to Nic tomorrow but maybe we'll run in to each other at some point.

crossing into el salvador

hi, thanks, i have been to xela twice before, studied each time, not that my spanish has improved that much because of it. what rought and crossing did you take into el salvador, i am thinking of the western route, so i can bypass guate city. will only stay a week or two, before heading into el salvador.

Yes, I went around Guat City, South...or West.
I'd stay in El Salvador a lot longer if I could, it's cheap and very awesome, especially the beach areas.
I'm in Leon Nic now if anyone wants to hook up.
